Default Quick simple question for IPOD users

This may sound dumb but I would like to know - if you plug an Ipod into the USB port is it possible to navigate through and select all of the music using the system without touching the actual Ipod? I've burnt 40 cds but it's becoming tiresome and I never worked out how to make audio DVDs work.
Thanks!

yeah you can use the finger buttons on the steering wheel to skip and replay songs and adjust volume or change the media input

Can you use the mouse and screen to navigate through artists, albums etc? Like I imagine a flash drive would be navigable?

You can navigate the music using the mouse buttons but it might be easier just using the iPod. Or do what I do, and use Hey Siri. This is the verbal command "hey Siri" not the Siri eyes free button. It works really well in my car.

You can say... "play artist the rolling stones" and it will make a playlist of stones songs. It's a virtual playlist, it doesn't make a real iPod playlist thats added to your iPod.

Awesome, thanks. Unfortunately I own the first year release (2012) which doesn't come with any siri type goodness. My radio is rather basic compared to the one in yours. Knowing it works I'll track down an ipod to check how good the interface is.
Can't physically use the ipod unfortunately, they're installing fixed cameras here that detect device use and send massive fines in the mail. Motorbike cops regularly patrol queues at intersections checking for device use too!

Hey Siri is on tht iPhone only, I don't think your car needs to support Siri eyes free to use Hey Siri. Your would need a device that supports Siri I am not sure if the iPod does. If it does your can just say " Hey Siri, play my playlist" or" hey Siri play song by artist" and it will play

Using voice to control audio is still an illegal action on the road, although one wouldn't expect to ever get caught. I use Android and the OK Google doesn't control the audio program that I meed to use (play doesn't support FLAC) but it's an option I hadn't really considered, thanks!
I'm going to borrow an Ipod today to see how that goes

Appreciate all the replies

Yes you can. I mostly use the mouse on mine to navigate all of those things.

I might try that on the officer, I might also get OCed....NSW Australia. Our rules are very strict ($1000 fines for phone touching, car crushing for racing twice in 5 years, fines if front passenger is using an Ipad) but the road toll here is very low. Give and take I guess.

I don't know anyone with an Ipod, might buy one.
