GS300 Nav Disc
Hey All,
This is my first post on the ClubLexus forum so I thought, I'd introduce myself along with asking a question
.
I live in the Pacific Northwest and recently bought a Black on Black 06 GS300 with only 36k Miles. The car is in great shape, with the exception of a few minor scratches and the fact it did not come with a Navigation Disc. The dealer I bought the car from gave me a disc from a Lexus SUV thinking it would work but as I thought, it doesn't. I'm pretty much done with this particular used car lot because even though this is a relatively minor issue, I bought the car in good faith thinking I would be getting the correct disc, but after 4 weeks and having it still be unresolved, I'm cutting my losses and moving on. They were also going to do a PDR service which still hasn't been taken care of, so for the most part they have not lived up to their end of the deal.
I've done some searching but with all the different versions, updates, etc. I'm still a bit confused on what which disc I need to buy. So could anyone point me in the right direction? I've been thinking of calling my local Lexus dealer, but I'm thinking the cost of buying a Nav Disc from the dealer will be EXPESNSIVE.
Thanks for any help.

Above advice is correct for the latest map version (9). map versions are released every year, 9 being the latest. The "Generation" refers to the hardware in your car and you will always be gen4 no matter whether you buy dvd v7 or 8 or 9 etc.
If you are price sensitive, depending on how much new development has been done recently in the areas you drive, you can consider an older map dvd (v6 or v 7 or v8) on ebay and save a few bucks. If a 2 year old (for example) map dvd still have most of locations for your area included it may be good enough. Personal preference but an option. As Twong says, the important thing is to get a generation 4 disc (because that corresponds with the navi hardware in your car). If you decide to buy an older version on ebay, be sure you are getting a gen4 version and a dvd that is a factory original not a copy.

Here is a link for 4th Gen latest version 9.1. http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...-2006-214.html U can type in clublexus code for more of a discount. This is the best price you will get unless buying used or a copy cd.
Pressing on the corners of the touch screen to get to the hidden menu went away after dvd 5. As rominl mentioned, after that some members were successful at burning a home made hybrid version of dvd 5 firmware and maps from later dvd versions. You have to own both discs to do that. I was able to get a v5/map6 combo but wasnt able to get it to work with map 7 and beyond. So I bought the override plug play kit from Prestigious Society. Works like a charm.
