Default Knocking sound when idle in the engine bay

I notice this constant knocking sound in the engine bay and it happens sometimes only when in idle or atleast the sound is not loud enough for me to hear when the car is moving

I have an engine light code reading for the cats but it wasnt showing any other codes last time I checked

I had a code for knock sensor before and when I replaced it the code went away so I dont think and I hope this sound isnt actually engine knocking

Heres a sound clip of the sound

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9_x...ature=youtu.be

Any ideas?

Hard to tell on the video, but I don't think it sounds like anything to be concerned about. How many miles are on the engine?

I'm not sure if this helps, but I remember someone who had a similar noise and he changed his spark plugs and the noise went away.

Looks like I could be worrying for nothing then

243 000km, so around 151 000 miles

I had a similar noise about a month ago. Take off your engine cover and check all your hoses. Mine turned out to be a broken fuel vapor feed causing that sound. The part was like $12 from Sewell. Hopefully it's something simple for you. Good luck!

That's exactly what it sounds like.Check the left side ( driver side ) evap hoses. Most likely your motor mounts are shot and every time you accelerate the engine moves and disconnects the evap hose.
Hope that makes sense.

You guys were right

It was this fuel vapor feed broken off where the hose connects
(pic borrowed from another post)

Sounds like a quick DIY fix, thanks alot guys

Btw, what does this piece do? It seems like its a hollow piece of plastic with nothing inside....

LOL I knew it sounded familiar! Yeah, just order one from Sewell and with the discount it's like $12. Like clos430 said, your motor mounts are probably bad too which caused piece to break. I ordered some from Amazon and I'll be replacing them this week.

Use both feet,

Left foot on brake pedal
right foot on gas pedal
car on, shift into drive and gently tap on gas pedal while holding brake pedal down.

Alternate between Neutral and Drive, with the car running and your foot on the brake and you will be able to feel the significant difference in vibration if your motor mounts are bad.

Nice call man!!! When I got my motor mounts done it was one of the best things I've ever done to my car, DO IT NOW IF U HAVENT, it even took out ALOT of the vibration at 60 mph, no more car shaking and steering wheel vibrations at red lights, the first week I got it done I hade to look down and see if my car was running it was so smoothe and quiet... Lol left foot brake, right foot gas, rev and get the car to jerk a little, my motor was flying out the engine bay it was a very scary sight, u can mess your tranny up if u ride like that for too long also..
