Engine sound from inside
Hi,
What i can do with such issue?
So, from outside my 2004 RX330 sound okay, little bit noisy, but nothing special for engine with 222K miles.
But from inside it is sounds like tractor. I changed timing belt and water pump, couple days ago, and my mechanic said that nothing needs to be exchanged. Acceleration is good, MPG is good, only problem is P0420 code. But dont think that it is associated with this code.
So, this is annoying to hear engine tractor sound inside when there is no same sound outside.

So, you are hearing the engine sound from inside the vehicle..??? at the stop or while you are driving, and at what RPM?. You need to give us more details about the conditions rather than " hey, my car is making noise and it's sound like a tractor and what should I do". I would say in a smart $$$ way " hey, turn up your radio and..."
The 04 RX is bad about the vibration noise/whining from the A/C compressor clutch and A/C line making a whining noise when the engine is approx. 1200-1400 rpm with A/C on. You can try to rev up the engine to about 1200-1400 rpm with A/C on to hear the noise and then do it with A/C off. I hope this is the noise you are hearing because if it is not, then you may have a tractor inside the car...lol...

My bet is on an exhaust leak... Depending on where it is, you could potentially hear it more inside than outside, and, it could also set a P0420 code...
Of course that is a weird one though... Have the exhaust looked at first though...
