Default oem tochscreen nav problems...

Hey guys this is my first post on CL so let me start by saying hell, my name is Jaimen and I am from Portland Oregon and I just picked up my first Lexus the other day, a blue 98 gs300. it needs alot of work but it has a lot of potential and the price was right... $1700

So yeah that's me and heres my first issue. i have the factory navigation/ climate control/radio in my lexus and it works if i leave my battery unplugged over night and when i leave for work in the morning it fires right up and works just fine. screen is a little fuzzy till it warms up sometimes but it works. Now if I leave my battery plugged in overnight, when i get in and start the car in the morning all i get is a black screen..., it powers on but nothing is displayed.... i can still work the defrost and auto climate controls but no radio or any sound even if i touch the screen all over.... so i wanted to see if anyone had any input on this situation, if you need more info lemme know and i will post. im also getting a messege that says check hard disk when i try to load the nav... but thats another thread! haha

thanks in advance guys. CL seems to be an awesome resource and cant wait to be apart of the community!

ps is this system what they call the mark levinson?

i would just swap out to even a low-priced aftermarket unit. the technology is super dated in the 98-00 models' nav. i doubt it is ML, maybe nakamichi. It would say it on your radio.

It's just old and crapping out. You'll get the same advise from everyone, swap it out for a non nav climate control and use an aftermarket deck. It'll be cheaper than replacing the oem nav unless you find someone with a working one for a good price.

It's not a Nakamichi either. 98-00' Nav was Pioneer only.
