ML Went Haywire on Me!!!
Ok, so I get in my car after work, lower my windows and open the moonroof. I then proceed to turn the stereo on, at which point I hear the loudest music I have heard since my concert going days. I immediately lower the volume, ears still ringing and pull out of the garage at work. Then as I slowly turn the volume up, the radio just doesn't sound right, so I go into the audio settings in my NAV screen. There are no blue lines lite up as usually for the bass, mid, treble and balance/fader. I pull over and shut the car off and turn it back on, but the damn thing still doesn't show the settings and sounds funky as hell. I finally press the button to center the speakers and presto, the blue line appears and I put the speakers back to the center. Same thing happens on the bass, mid and treble as well. Now my question is this a known issue on the ML system or has this happened to anyone? I know there was an issue with the 98-00 NAK going haywire and doing the same as what I described, but I haven't run across the ML doing this. I have had my car for almost a year and this is the first time this has ever happened and I hope the last. I'd like to hear the opinions of everyone on the board, so let em fly please. Thanks in advance. In addition I wish what happened to me upon nobody with the ML system.
The same thing happened to me when I first got my gs430 with ml system. Scared the sh.t out of me. After about 3 times I was afraid to turn on the damn system. The first time I took it back to the dealer they claimed they adjusted something in the amp. But about three days later, it happened again. Took it back again, this time they replaced the amp.
It hasn't happened in nearly a year, so I replacing the amp solved the problem. I think the same thing has happened to alot of the gs owners with the ml system.
Hope this helps.

Yes, there is a update to the firmware on the ML amp. It is covered under warranty that requires replacing the whole ML amp. The problem you are having is a known problem with all early ML audio system (GS and SC430) when owners uses the ASL feature.
My Lexus service manager informed me of the problems and changed my late last year.

Yes, I had a similar ML freak out (WAY before it was a known issue)...the dealer swapped out my Amp 3 times. Still has problems (not those though, other problems)...but Lexus took care of me.
Ugh, I hope this never happens again but I will bring up replacing my amp when I bring my car in next month for service or if my hearing goes. Whatever happens first
I appreciate the feedback on this and I am surprised that this has happened to so many people. As far as ASL causing it as Chu suggested, I never used ASL, I have made sure since day 1 that it was off, because I personally hate it. I guess the ML amps on the early GS/SC's are just prone to this. Thank you for the feedback guys, barring constant concert blasts every few days, I'll post an update next month when I get this dealt with. Thanx again
