Default Mark Levinson center channel speaker

Is there a volume level somewhere?
It's much louder than the other main speakers.

Turn off surround processing unless you're listening to actual surround source material?

I've done that and the center is still overpowering the rears and even fronts.
I have to bring the rears up almost all the way to hear them.FM anyway.
Haven't tried a CD yet.I read in the manual in CD mode you have icons on people seating in the car you can choose. One person, two people up front etc for best sound.

I've never had that problem. Have you tried moving the fader to the rear abit? Would that help?

It's definitely the ML.
Has the ML logo right on the lower right.
I read about the CD icon thing in the manual.I might have confused it with the regular radio.
Just tried a CD and still the center channel is too strong.

I move the fader one setting from as far as I can go in the back and it sound ok but I don't think I should have to go that far back.
In doing so I loose a lot of door and dash speaker sound.

I guess I'm not alone with the center channel issue.
Check what this guy did which will kill his waranty.
I'm going to check with the service dept and see if the unit is working properly.

The center speaker is a mid range right, try turning down the mid range and turn up the treble and bass.

It seems to be much better when doing what you suggested,G.Thanks.
I still must fade to the back a lot.
I didn't get a chance really to listen to the ML in a GS.
I've heard the ML in a LS and IS and thought it was great. In a search I found a post that the ML in the other models sounds better than in the GS.
I'm going to try a DVD Audio disc.I've been wanting to get that Beatles Love CD I see it's available in the DVD Audio disc format in 5.1 surround sound.
That probably will sound amazing.

Its not that the ML sounds better in other models, its just that the non-ML sound so good already in the GS. The ML do sound a little in my old GX and the LX, but I think thats due to the larger cabin. Of course the ML will sound better in the LS, but the ML in the RX and ES is not that good at all. I surprise to hear that the ML sounds better in the IS than the GS.

same here, heard the ML on RX and ES and got my eyes rolling, they aren't that superior at all. larger cabin doesn't mean better though, in terms of clarity i think my sc430 ML system sounds better than my gs350, except base isn't as strong.

i also think the ML system on IS sounds a bit better than the GS. GS is more on the flat side imho. ML system in the new LS and LX aren't to be compared, they are named reference system and they are in another league

The ML in the GS does sound better than my RX. So much, that I just replaced my ML in the RX with an Alpine W505. Here are some pics

If you think the ML in the RX is bad, the stock radio in the RX sounds like a Toyota

A friend on the IS forum with a IS 350 with ML and me are going with a 5.1 ohm 25 watt resistor on the center channel wire at the amp plug in.
The step down should lessen the center output so that the other speakers, unlike now, will be heard.
The poster in the url I provided above is happy with a 6 ohm but felt a bit lower ohm would be even better. We'll see.
The only wire touched will be the center channel wire which I believe is yellow.
Hopefully the fix won't affect the warranty on anything else but the center channel.

The stock radio in my RX sounds like a ML,Bose or any other high end system compared to the stock radio that was in my IS.
