Default The Shakes

Is there anyone that can help me out??
I have a 98 Lexus GS400 with 90 K miles on it...when I reach 65-74 mph the stering wheel would shake and would stop when I hit pass 80 mph It only occurs between the speed of 65-74 mph. the suspension checked out ok, the wheel ailment done and checked, and tires were mounted and balance...any clue as to what may be causing this?

Thanks
will

What kind of balance was done on the tires? Roadforce match mount? If not, you may want to.
You could have a broken band in one of the front tires, or they are just out of balance.
A regular balance it probably not going to find the problem.

COuld be tie rods, ball joints worn out or caster arms? Any one of those or possibly all of them could be your coulprit.. With that many miles I don't think the suspension checks out.. What does that mean?

This is a well known phenomenon with the 2GS. My steering wheel shakes a little between 60-65. It's kind of weird that yours does it all the way up to 80, which makes me wonder whether your problem might be different than the well known issue that a lot of us have.

hmm.. I used to have this problem but since I had my front suspension rebuilt it's not really an issue anymore - i have slight shaking but only for like a split second and the shimmy and such is all gone - maybe check your lower ball joints? and welcome to CL

Road-force balance the wheels first.
