Default How to remove emblems?

I want to remove the "LEXUS", the "L", and the "GS400"
Are they screwed in or just stuck with some crazy sticker?
How do I remove them from the car?

The "L" is screwed in, but the "GS430" and "Lexus" emblems are simply stuck on. We bought our GS with the emblems removed and only the "L" on the trunk lid. We think it looks cleaner.

I just replaced the L on my 98 GS4 and it was only stuck on with glue, not screwed.

From what I have read ( by searching!!) is that the GS did not come with any screw mounted emblems. Most people use fishing line to remove them.

Jayson - are you sure it is screwed in? ( see above)

Let me restate, I HAD to replace my L cause someone stole it...

PS. If its not a hot day, pour some hot water over the badge, then use the dental floss

Or just use a hair dryer on the badge for a good minute and a half, all over the badge, then slide some dental floss gently under it and lift up slowly. It should come right off. I masked the area around the badge with painters tape, just to be sure, but there really wasnt any need to do so. Then you can rub away the extra crap left on the paint with your thumbs, or worst comes to worst, use some goo-gone or goof-off to remove it.

lol....park the car in the hot sun....make sure the badge u want off gets direct sunlight....when nice and hot (use hair dryer as an alternative)....then use a credit card and start sliding it under the emblem adhesive.....i found this better than using dental floss.

good luck.

I stand corrected.

I just went out, poked around, and the "L" is not screwed in, however, on the front of my SC, the "L" has some sort of tack on it and had to be replaced when I had my front bumper pulled off and repainted due to oxidation.

My SC has 3 holes in the front bumper under the emblem The body shop mustve done it when I had my front bumper replaced. Shouldve told them to keep it off then and there.

The 2nd gen GS definitely has no holes for the trunk emblems!

Lots of threads on this subject I searched for 'debadge' and 'how to debadge' in the GS forum

12lb test fishing line cuts through like butta. I also used blue painters tape to mark where old emblems were since I rebadged.
