Wow, I spend most the night reading all the post about tranmission issue. Is this still going on with newly built models? My wife's cousin is a mechanic in Lexus and he said that so far he has experience two trannny replacements, but they narrow it down to specific VIN# and these specific models were manufactured in Canada. I am not sure if this is true, let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

From what I understand, all ES350's are built in Japan.
Now, are we talking about models of ES or specific trannies that manufactured outside of Japan? I could of swear reading that Lexus had a few different contract manufactures for tranny, and early quality problem (March/May '06, reversed o-ring) was with a specific vendor? So, maybe his cousin refers to trannies manufactured in Canada, if there is such thing?

The wife may wish to seriously consider taking that cousin off the holiday shopping list for providing that info.
In your decision making, use all sources, do a search keying in ES350 transmission and then again, though 2nd search separate the ES from the 350 by putting one space in between.
