Default Tranny Problem

Is there anyone that has problem with their tranny? Like jerks, shifts weird or just unusual? Or i should ask how many people have tranny problems on 98-00 GS4. I dont want to buy another car that has tranny problem just like my current TL. Thank you!

The 2nd gen GS series wasn't aflicted with any recurring transmission failures that I know of. (The library section of these forums has service bulletins and the like--you may want to review them.) I understand your fear, though. I believe that my 01 Honda Odyssey shares transmissions with your TL and my heart misses a beat every time it shifts. 92K miles and still no problems (knock on wood.)

Yes, we are well aware of the Acura tranny issues. The GS has a world-class transmission, develped in 1997 and used in the GS 400/430/LS 400/430 and SC 400/430 since 199/98. The tranny is one of the most solid you can buy. It has gathered tons of praise in the auto press for smooth shifting and providing the power of the engines to the road. We have people adding Torque convertors with no problems.

GS tranny=as solid as they get.

Welcome to Clublexus. Rominl, got rid of his TL-S for a GS 400 (which is now one of the best here). There are a few other members that made the same move up. Maybe they will chime in.

haha thanks sick. to be exactly, i got rid of the tl-s and got the is3 coz' i don't wannt even deal with the tranny problem. it started to slip already and that's it for me. people called me stupid on acura boards, but almost 2 yrs later, now no one there can even argue with me anymore.

the toyota stuff are strong man, morris he has the gs4 with supercharger and stock tranny with 200k miles and stil running good, beat that. and so far the tranny on my gs4, is3, and sc430 have been nothing but smoothness. it's like silk
