You're going to be waiting a very long time if you're expecting 4680 batteries.
More power than 1020??!
Lol...the plaid was originally envisioned with the 4680, but eventually used the older 18650 batteries. And yes, more power. The power train is made for it, but the batteries can't keep up.
I have a love hate relationship with red cars: I actually don't prefer them as they stand out too much which doesn't really match with my low key personality.
However, for some reason red colored cars keep on making their way to my car ownership (evos, zupras, mr2s)...lol
Having said that, i think it would look good and suit the Model S, but I'd rather be a little more incognito given my lead foot...

I'm curious about this. Got a link to share?
4680 batteries were announced over 2 years ago and true to "Elon time", it's not happening anytime soon otherwise you'd have seen test prototypes with the new chassis and battery form factor by now.

The issue with the 4680 batteries are that they seem to have similar energy density to the 2170 battery packs although they have the potential for higher energy density. Could be software limitations on them, but they definitely have future potential due to the breakthrough dry battery electrodes and it's tabless design.
They probably need one or two generations more of development
Pardon my ignorance, besides speed/range and the yoke, what else is different in a plaid?
It has 3 electric motors and a 100kWh battery. The Model S LR is Dual motor, and same battery pack. The more detailed listing is above posted by Hameed

I think it was destined for the plaid+ , but the pulled it due to the pandemic and needing to launch the plaid asap to counter Lucid.

Took a look at my new car today...the red isn't so bad (isn't as metallic as I thought). Definitely stands out in a sea of white and grey Tesla's! Starting to appreciate the color more, especially since it's a $2500 adder...
As for ICE, the "sports" version usually have different suspension/brake/handling/appearance... I was referring to those things. So basically they all drive the same except the fastness/how long and... the badge in the rear. In a different thread, some were talking about the M versions are not as exclusive for the money difference but to think about it in comparison to Tesla, Tesla owners seem to care just the inside. I guess if they are never different to begin with, they don't seem to bother. On Tesla forums, do they wish they could have more extra features/options for the money? Like... front frameless option?

That's only one aspect - another major aspect is the complete overhaul/entirely new/different chassis for the Model S to be a Mega cast chassis. That in itself will take a while.
