Its not just that, its the added cost of maintaining it and the additional cost of entry...then there is the much lower range...$300 a month more or so to lease than my S Class, $600 more a month to lease than the 750 at the time, plus the fuel cost at another $100 a month at least, plus the additional maintenance cost, insurance cost, gas guzzler tax, worth an additional $800+ more a month than the 750? Not to me, honestly.
Or are you saying he just went full retard and actually just stomped the pedal vs a quick heavy max stopping power roll on? Even then I just can't see an M3 losing it like that....maybe I just compensate for it better than he did but I've hit brakes hard in similar situations countless times.
That just doesn't strike me as extreme enough to lose it.
My average with the W12 is 19.3-21 and the V8 is 26-28 if I am driving them sanely so both have great MPG by my standards. Both are full time AWD with an active system on the 12 and both are on the same tires and have the same fluids so it's a direct real world comparison. The main difference is in the city, if I allow the V8 to use start/stop it can manage near 20 mpg still while the 12 just eats fuel in real time.

Running costs are indeed higher but my insurance is actually cheaper on the 12 due to less instances of people crashing them. It's actually my cheapest car for insurance other than the cheap stuff like the Jeep.
In your case though maintenece costs are a wash since you lease, oil changes are only 4 quarts more oil with everything else being the same.
Range is 400-475 vs 525-650 so you are for sure losing some range there, not so much on the interstates though if you do 90 since the 12s like those speeds quite a lot I have found....

I really don't think too much about it. I wouldn't have my SUVs if the gas was a concern. That is the way I look at.

When people ask me how expensive it is to fix my cars or fuel them I sometimes have to fight the urge to just flat out say "more than you can afford if you have to ask". Cost is always going to be there one way or another, any car of this level will tax your wallet, skills, time, or something to be able to own it.
It also gets old answering the "how much is sticker on that" question after a while. The truly astounding thing however is when I'm asked those questions is when the person asking is driving a car far more expensive than mine. The $65k 4Runner is asking how much the $34k A8 how expensive it is to run....
I don't know man, how much is your monthly? Less than that.

Jeep gets fed 88 octane E15 from sheetz at $1.99 a gallon. I would feed it 85 octane if it was cheaper since it's engine is a potato and doesn't need any semblance of fuel quality
You may (?) already be aware of this, but shop at Giant Food, and the store, wth your Bonus card, as points accumulate with sales, will pay a part of your Shell gas bill. Shell is about all I ever put in my Encore GX...and most of the other vehicles I have owned since Chevron left the D.C. area.
Shell, of course, also has their own special offers and Credit-card bonuses.
Not silly at all. I usually fill up at one specific brand. I get a permanent discount like yours as my debit card is linked to the points card. So it always a discount every day. I usually fill up early in the AM as it is quiet. Way pay more if you don’t have to.
Yes, best thing about LX570 is it takes regular which mitigates the awful mileage and cost somewhat. Kroger points knock off 30-50 cents a gallon. No other premium truck gulps regular just fine like an LX, at least the old one. The new turbo one I would put premium in.
About the V12, you know the saying from and ice-cold Michelle Pfieffer in Scarface, "Nothing exceeds like excess."
I can't believe I saw two different M760s today.
