Yeah, my brother (who also lives in the area) texted me that video last night...I was going to post it, but you beat me to it, Stroock. That senseless incident happened just a few miles from my house...on VA Route 28, just north of Manassas.
You really have to be a bungler behind the wheel (or have something out of the ordinary happen) to lose control of an M3. It is one of the best-handling sedan-based coupes on the planet...one reason why it is popular with enthusiasts. The investigation showed that the M3 was doing some 120 MPH when they lost it.....more than twice the posted speed limit on that stretch.
I agree that the cop was extraordinarily lucky, and/or had a divine hand watching out for him. Cops risk their lives every day.
One of my brother's co-workers was driving that stretch after the incident and said he saw the unbelievable skid marks on the road from that M3.

That's why I called him a dumbass, an M3 at 120 is nothing to control.....180 sure but not 120.
I kinda wish I had gotten one of those! I could have leased one for not much more than my S560...V12 is silly for daily driving and as much driving as I do though

Ah, the good 'ole days. BMW had ridiculous lease deals on those for quite a while.
The W163 ML, pre-facelift W220 S-class, pre-facelift W203 C-class, W202 C-class, and W210 E-class can all suffer from rust. You can blame Juergen Schrempp and his insane cost cutting.

irrelevant if you have the money and want absolutely the highest end option with no compromise. Both my full time 4WD SUVs are combined 15MPGs....neither have start stop. Neither decouple the 4WD system..One is a 4.0L V6 and the other is a 4.7l V8.

So is it worth it? Only you can decide that.
