General Car Conversation
how long left on your lease?
Me either. The only time I've had one of my BMWs (or the Audi) in the shop longer than overnight, my car was undriveable without the parts they needed, and those parts were delayed due to a blizzard preventing the delivery trucks from starting.
Unless I dropped it off at night, it has never--ever--not been looked at on the same day, and typically returned that day as well. I would have a fit too, if it took the better part of a week to even get my car on a lift, after having scheduled the service weeks in advance.

Yeah some of them know how to make their customers happy. Nice sayings don't cost a penny. So why not say what people want to hear? Care to give more elaboration on why X6 is a POS? I'm not a fan of its design but isn't it very similar to X5/X7 inside/engine but slightly smaller than X7? Or is it because it's not 5.0 like yours?
Oh 100% reasonable and most people would be happy with that as a loaner, no doubt about that. I was more talking about the car in general and being disappointed because I had a choice and was like oh yeah give me the X6 and was a little let down. I always like to try something new as a loaner. One time at Lexus I chose a CT and I really liked it for a little car.
I said "I'm not one to expect special treatment", and thats true, but in this specific situation having been given that car, that car shouldn't be a loaner car at a Mercedes dealership at all. Lets just say I didn't realize how crappy an A Class really was. IMO this shouldn't be "special treatment" it should be, treatment.
So I took it back and got a GLC, man its like a Rolls Royce compared to that A Class. Terrible.
But, to be fair if I need to drive 9 hours away, and my car is at the dealer for service or a warranty repair, then I need to drive 9 hours away. The point of the loaner is so my travel needs aren't interrupted by having my car in the shop. I've taken loaners and rental cars on trips before.

Steve,
Will we have an update for your other thread?
A typical policy from a Lexus dealership. They even want to charge for gas now. I remember back in the days, no problem with gas/mileage or even toll. Or maybe it's always been there but they don't enforce?
That makes sense now. It's one generation old and has been a loaner. What can we expect? You were lucky it didn't stop on one of your routes.
Why not?

- Please present a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and credit card to be eligible for a loaner/rental vehicle.
- So we can better serve each clients' needs, we require the loan cars be returned within twelve business hours of notification that your vehicle's service is complete. Clients not returning vehicles within twelve business hours will be assessed a $50-per-day late fee.
- Maintain a daily mileage allowance of 50 miles per day. Smoking and pets are not permitted in our loaner vehicles. A $300.00 detailing fee will apply.
- Please be courteous when using our loan cars - drive safely, responsibly and please observe and pay all tolls.
- The loaner vehicle must be returned with the same level of fuel as when received. South Bay Lexus reserves the right to charge you $6.25 per gallon to bring the vehicle back to the same fuel level.
It was an older one (maybe 2018, can’t remember) and it was a base model. Very cheap interior, user interface, gauge cluster even compared to my M340. It just felt really plasticky too. They were actually going to give me a newer X7 M50i but it was last year during the supply shortage and had just sold it. I had a choice of cars and thought to try the X6 since I’ve never driven one.
Why not?
