I realize that you are a technophobe, but I am firmly of the opinion that navigation makes cars safer, because it lets people focus more on driving than on fumbling for directions or trying to figure out where to turn, which ramp to take, etc. You may only drive where you are accustomed to driving, but I travel and am often in places that I have never been or that I seldom am in, and you're going to need directions...

The design doesn't have to be tacked on, but I much prefer screens up high in the dash. My S560 and my LS460s are good examples of high placement integrated screens

I copied and pasted this from the VW Atlas. Hope you don’t mind as I didn’t want to carry on off topic

wow that LS460 interior is a nice design. In hindsight it just has a very nice straightforward look while still being very classy. No AC button is the only downfall IMO…but that has been debated to no end

as for nav. I have really come to appreciate my in house Toyota nav in my 4R. I love how the system shows the highway signs and really really makes it easy and simple to figure things out.

also really like how mine prompts me with a message coming through the audio.

for Apple Car Play. I have come to really appreciate it as well. Short trips I usually use the Apple Maps. Long distance road trips I like the in house nav.

I’ve like to just keep it on for long trips. I know how long it will be as time and distance counts down. Highway exits and rest stops display on screen and that is handy.

To be clear, I did not drive to and from Florida. I would have done that in my own cars. I flew to Orlando and rented a car to drive around while I was there, and then flew back.

I ended up behind this beauty today. We chatted, 1966 SL. He loved mine as much as I loved his. He knew this was a Silver Arrow, there are plenty of Mercedes freaks out there lol.

^^^ When that '66 was built, M-B products were arguably the most well-engineered and best-assembled vehicles in the world. That began to change in the 1990s, when Lexus and Infiniti arrived and gave M-B serious Japanese competition for the first time.

Oh I know. See this is a 1989 car when MB still made tanks built to standards and not a price, it’s just the last model year 2002.

Hadn't even crossed my mind, you are probably very correct.

I was just sitting here thinking how that will be my car one day. I'm never selling it, ever. It's going to live in a climate controlled garage until I'm dead. It's old now but it will be ooooillllllllld one day like that one. That's what you just can't do with Lexus as much as I love the brand. Traffic doesn't stop and you don't pull up along side an old LS400 driver.

That was an SL 36 years older than mine. Generation 2 I believe.

Beautiful day for top down driving, almost 80. Another thing I love about the south, you get days like this scattered about through winters.

Went to the Toronto Auto Show today. They have had record setting attendance over the weekend prior. On one day, they had the highest attendance day ever in the history. At point, they had to close one of the buildings because there were too many people.

all that said, missing from the show:

Mazda
Mercedes-Benz
VW
Audi
BMW
Honda
Acura
Mitsubishi
Ford
Lincoln

at this years show. Tesla was there with their full line up and hosts.

I can't wait to hear about the G90. I'd love to hear how you feel that compares to other flagship sedans like the LS500, A8L, 750, S class, etc. instead of it being a review only focused on the G90. I also don't know if you've tested 2022 or 2023 models of any of those flagships to be able to accurately compare.

I didn't go but I think these brands skipped the Chicago Auto Show too. Now that I think of it, I heard BMW had EV's only.

We had the LS500 a year or so ago and I've spent decent time in the A8 and S-Class. Haven't spent time in the updated 7 series yet.
