CarPlay
LOL that's pretty funny.
I used to load CD's while driving when I first got my license. Then I got a car that had a 6-disc changer and that made it so much easier. Any time I wanted to change them out I'd just simply pull over and do it. No big deal.
Can't say I ever used a piece of paper for trying to find a place. I have a pretty good sense of direction and if I'm trying to find someone's place that I've never been to, I'll look it up on google maps before the trip. I have a great memory and I can remember how to get pretty much anywhere after doing it once.

You're right, Seattle/Bellevue isn't bad at all but I haven't driven in those places.
I'm sure depending on what you're looking for, you could get used to it. I'm sure that's what people did 10-15 years ago, right before the smartphone craze. You were forced to figure it out because there wasn't a device walking you through every little step of the way.

You learn your way around sure, but the point is being able to find your way around in a place you don’t know. *I* don’t need a GPS to get around DC, but I live here.
Before we had stuff like this people got lost and it was really stressful. Now we don’t have to do that.

Nope. Unlike you, I think people can actually navigate this country without relying on a stupid device.
But...YOU said you didn't use printed directions, and you had it all memorized. Before GPS, people used printed directions, particularly in the cities mentioned above. Trying to memorize directions into DC, Boston, NYC (other than midtown and uptown Manhattan) would have guaranteed getting lost. I remember getting lost in Rockland County NY WITH printed directions and a co-pilot because we were given such horrible printed directions trying to get to a rehearsal dinner.
I also said if I was unsure of where something was, I'd look it up on the computer beforehand and if it was a really tricky area, I'd write a few notes down on paper like streets off interstates, what business is next to it, etc.
