Default Consumer Reports Ranks "Most Satisfying" Car Brands

In the March 2022 issue, CR ranks car brands by "owner satisfaction" as found from their annual survey of members. The survey may be found here:
Guide to Car Reliability - Consumer Reports
Scroll 3/4ths of the way down the web page.

Toyota finishes 11th while Lexus clocks in at 13th. A few car brands ranked higher than 11th? Ready for this?:

Chrysler (4th);
Dodge (5th);
Ford (8th);
Hyundai (10th).

Meanwhile, Honda was 19th and Acura 27th (out of 29 brands).

You may disagree. I do!

Can you post link to where you read that? On a link from the general link you provided, I read this, “Lexus, Mazda, and Toyota are once again the most reliable brands in our annual auto reliability brand rankings, with just a slight reshuffling that saw Lexus earn the top spot and Toyota slide to number three.”

The CR survey was of "customer satisfaction." Not reliability.

Try this specific link:

Dissatisfaction appears to be with in-car electronics. I would agree!

Dodge's high ranking among the street-racers is obvious...and the strongly-retro styling of the Challenger just adds to that. They have also been in production for so long that most of the reliability bugs have been worked out now. Chrysler's ranking is probably due to the 300 being the only traditional V8 RWD American large sedan left in production...it is very popular with seniors. The Pacifica is also quite advanced as a minivan, if not the most reliable one on the market.

I'll accept Buick's low ranking in satisfaction as legitimate data from CR, and not question it, but I happen to be one of those who do like the way they drive.....more comfort-oriented than sport-oriented. Same with Lincoln.

Do we know what in-car electronic the consumer don't like ?
I find the Lexus electronic very primitive, but it works and never stalls or need update. For me, it's a major plus side.

Most got bad scores for Electronics. Even Audi got 1/5. So Lexus is on par with Audi now?

consumers have no point of reference and only go by expectations on how much they paid for the car.

So they shouldn’t be ranked.

However one thing for sure. All makes rate bad on the in car electronics. If they all had ***** and buttons from the 2010s they would all score better. It is all the touch screen and over complication that frustrates people, even that’s what they keep asking for.

Ok so clearly a lot of CR subscribers have really low expectations.

Electronics can work reliably, but not work satisfactorily. Think Lexus track pad controllers....

The Pacifica, even with unreliable electronics, still pleases a number of people. Just ask your better-half, for one. The 300, especially in this area, is very popular with seniors....many of the same people who used to drive Town Cars, big Cadillac sedans, Lacrosses/Lucernes, Impalas, and other large sedans that were foolishly dropped by their manufacturers. Chrysler still produces a (relatively) affordable large sedan that appeals to them.

Its very appealing, but its not a super high quality product, and there are TONS of issues. The suspension is clunking in mine right now with 10k miles...

Yep....you hit the nail on the head. When one has to scroll through a dozen or more screen-menus to simply reset the clock or add/delete radio-station memory, enough is enough.

Did those develop recently? You told us earlier that this Pacifica has been a marked improvement over the last one.

Scotty Kilmer, in his videos, still ranks FCA (now Stellantis) products at the bottom of the reliability-barrel....much lower than where CR is now ranking them.

The suspension is clunking in mine right now with 10k miles...
Part of that is the crappy roads, utility-cuts/fill-ins, and never-ending construction in this area.....although roads here generally aren't as bad as in the Great Lakes Snow-Belt. Recent winter storms, however, and a lot of salt/de-icers have opened up a lot of potholes and caused other pavement-damage...which puts a lot of stress and wear on shocks/suspension parts. Don't be surprised if at least your two front wheels (and possibly all four) are also out of alignment.

Tesla is ranked number 1 in this survey...quality has nothing to do with this metric
