Been dealing with it the last couple thousand miles. its been in once, and they didnt fix it.

Its a huge improvement, but that doesnt mean its good.

Part of that is the crappy roads, utility-cuts/fill-ins, and never-ending construction in this area.....although roads here generally aren't as bad as in the Great Lakes Snow-Belt. Recent winter storms, however, and a lot of salt/de-icers have opened up a lot of potholes and caused other pavement-damage...which puts a lot of stress and wear on shocks/suspension parts. Don't be surprised if at least your two front wheels (and possibly all four) are also out of alignment.
Yeah no, a car should be able to stand up to any quality road for 10,000 miles...all my other cars have. This van is used very gently, this is a common issue with the Pacifica.

Your leasing, correct? You'll at least be able to move on after the lease ends. My brother in law bought the Grand Caravan, and man, you want to know an every winding road to problems. He eventually turned it into their garbage hauler, he lives in the hills and their driveway is basically a private road and you have to go to the bottom of the hill to get your mail and on trash day you have to bring the trash cans down, so he pulled the back seats out and would load the garbage cans on trash day so he didn't have to walk down the hill with them. He eventually donated to some charity

Oh yeah, I wouldn't buy one of these. If I were going to buy one and keep it, it would be a Sienna.

Yep, 9 years and 151K later still running strong. Holding on to it until an EV alternative comes along. Although it did go downhill quality wise from our 2004 Sienna which my wife totalled in December 2012. They switched from the soft materials to the hard plastics that creak and look cheap

That's what he was hoping to do last time. We see how that worked out.

As long as he didn't buy it. He could still technically sell his lease and break even

I grew up in a VW family, owned several including a Rabbit and GTI, and they drove good...when they drove. They all consumed oil, overheated, blew fuses and relays, and started whenever they felt like it. My brand new GTI would consume about a quart of oil every few weeks, temps would run almost to the red in stop in go traffic, would vapor lock on hot summer days and the beautiful plastic radiator cracked...just because. When I took it to the dealer they were like "the oil consumption is within normal tolerances, the temp gauge running almost to red is within normal tolerances, it's just a fuse" etc etc. When I bought my first Corolla in 1995 I couldn't believe you could actually own a car that starts everyday, doesn't eat oil every thousand miles and doesn't overheat!

The best memory I have of my GTi...I got laid for the first time in the backseat. And I think it actually started that day...

My mom's was a 99, one of the first New Beetles. The battery exploded and destroyed the electrical system. When it was at the dealer they tried to say it wouldn't be covered because we never checked the electrolytes in the battery, Yes, a 1999 car had a servicable battery.

When I brought to their attention that they had maintained it since it was new (it had maybe 10k miles on it) and if anything was missed from the maintenance schedule, they were the ones that missed it...mysteriously all discussion of it not being covered stopped. It also had 3 leaking fuel tanks. As in, both replacements also leaked.

My neighbor has one thats a 2000, I can't imagine the amount of work its taken to keep it running.

We owned a Dasher, Rabbit, GTI, a Quantum (5 cylinder) and two Vanagens, the water cooled versions. All of them had the same exact problems. Oil consumption, running hot, electrical problems, leaking water pumps, broken radiator fans and cracked radiators. The Vanagen had an underpowered water pump that couldn't handle pumping coolant from the engine in the rear to the radiator in the front and would literally start leaking every 3 months. On the nose. When the warranty ran out and they wouldn't replace it anymore, we had to carry bottles of coolant and fill it up every 5 or 6 days. The way you did it was interesting...someone had to hold the the throttle down while you unscrewed the cap and filled up revivor in the engine compartment to push the coolant to the front where the radiator was. Stupidest design ever

Some Toyotas, from what I remember, also used old-fashioned cell-cap batteries into the 1990s as well.

This is one reason (among many) why VW dealerships have such a poor reputation in the U.S. The most arrogant salesman I ever met, bar none, wore a VW-dealer-badge...he could have been on the Jerry Springer show LOL.

Perhaps the early 1990s.

let's get back to the CR satisfaction survey.

and remember all, this is about satisfaction, not quality or reliability.

some people love their cars even though they have issues.
