This car excites in a way similar to how the 2GS400 did back in the day... impressive performance, tech, design, interior wow, nice.
I remember how exciting the VVTi 1UZ GS4 was when it came out, and I can promise you that this Hyundai evokes no such emotion in me whatsoever. Tesla, on the other hand... that’s different.
I'll wait until I have a chance to actually sit in it and/or drive it, but I'm not impressed with what I saw in the video. Grille's too large, headlights too small, not a fan of the steering-wheel design, dash and wood trim looks too much like a larger/more expensive version of that in the new K5 sedan, also don't care for the backward-reading British-style tach. And the rotary-shifter, for me, would probably be a deal-breaker....even Alex said he preferred the "T" shifter in the last version.
However, in its favor, the panel-graphics seem well-done, I like the idea of having air-vents above the dash, I like that it (supposedly) comes with a real spare wheel, and Genesis, even in its relatively short time on the market, has a reputation for solid materials and screwing vehicles together like a Swiss Watch.

I agree with you Mike.
I love the interior space in the Geneses, however like the G90 and the G70 before it, I don't think the G80 will sell relative to the volumes that the ES, E Class and 5 Series are achieving.
This is truly a stunning car, IMHO. Just beautiful. And it’s it’s own car, it doesn’t copy anybody.
I don’t know if I could go down to a smaller car, but I would seriously consider one of these.
Current G80 Is very traditional LS-like.
Be careful with new G80; it may have a lower roofline & smaller cubic capacity interior, though unlikely to be down to 99 cu ft like 5LS.
Just spotted this on my evening walk. Love is an understatement! The color is incredible and the rims look much better in person. Wonder if these rims will be offered in the US? This person must work for Kia/Hyundai as they also had a Stinger before it was available and not recently a GV80.
Sheesh, Those wheels are definitely an acquired taste. To me, nothing matches here. Definitely sreams manufacturer prototype. Lol. Hopefully not a combo that will ever be available for sale.
They did a pretty good job with interior space.
Only 1 cu ft smaller than the old model, and still by far the most spacious in its class.
Motorola & bitkahuna will love that...

those wheels are off a 2020 G90 i believe. and the '21 g90 (at least in korea) will offer other rims, a good decision.

not why i'm mentioned?
i see from that chart the g80 has start/stop. i guess a test drive will tell, but unless it's really seamless, it would guarantee i won't get one.

Doesn't Genesis provide a disable-switch for the start-stop function? Buick didn't several years ago, but they now do because of customer-demand. A lot of people, for various reasons, don't like the engine shutting off at idle.
