Why is it "great"? So many people on CL are concerned that modern safety systems are creating a generation of bad drivers, because they feel like the car will pay attention for them in certain situations. Isn't this a primary offender? "Oh, I can text my buddy until the car beeps at me."

Its "great" because the few times where I have been looking down or zoning out or something its let me know the car in front of me has pulled out and saved me being honked at.
I am not someone who thinks modern safety systems are making bad drivers. They're making driving much safer.
the palisade and telluride are great because they're not enormous outside, but provide great space efficiency and usable room in seating and cargo.
^^^ Exactly. And why are they space-efficient? Although several design factors are involved, the main one is simple two-box styling. Some people love to pan that type of styling. We hear remarks like "Oh, it's Ugly. It's Awkward. It's Passe. It's 1980s, not 2010s. It's not Cool. It's not With it". Well, complaining about things won't change the laws of geometry and physics. Shoe-boxes, like it or not, are simply the name of the game in space efficiency.
But that, of course, doesn't mean that the Palisade and Telluride are the only SUVs that adhere to the shoe-box rule of space efficiency. There are actually a number of them....one of the best examples of all is the Ford Flex.

Except that the Flex is 10"-12" longer on the outside when compared to Palisade and Telluride. That's not "space efficiency"; that's a "big vehicle".
This really caught my eye when I was checking out the interior.
Are there any suvs out there that have a flat trunk cargo area?
This is one of the main reasons I love a minivan for that huge cargo space in the back
My CX-9 has something similar, but it's much smaller (ignore the red circles). The spare tire, scissor jack, tire iron, recovery eyelet and recovery straps are stored underneath this area.
My daughter and her husband put their order in for a Palisade Limited yesterday. It’s exactly what they are looking for. They drove the Telluride and Palisade several times and like the interior of the Palisade better. Big and boxy but not a full size body on frame American SUV. They have a new baby and go out often with other couples and their babies and dogs. Room is everything to them. Originally my daughter wanted an Escalade type car but I brought her to her senses. She also knows how smitten I am with my new Santa Fe but thats too small for their needs.

Congratulations....and best of luck wth it. And congratulations on Junior.
Most commenters here, on Car Chat, seem to prefer the Palisade. I also do myself.

Of course it’s all personal preference. I like the shifter in the Telluride but I dislike the black wheels that you have to take in the SX. Luckily it wasn’t my decision. My daughter doesn’t care about the shifter and said the Palisade is the clear winner. Also it’s nice the Hyundai dealer is very close to her house she could walk home from there .
