I don't think it will compete there because it doesn't appear to be similar size- even though it looks big in the pics, the description posted in this link says it should compete more against the Explorer size SUV's.

Though I've never owned one, I drove quite a lot of Sonatas back in 2011-12, so you could say I'm a closet fan. From the pics, I like it. And overall? I would trust a vehicle built by them.

I wish that somehow all car mfgs would offer optional brakes, though. Would not be a show stopper, however.

Spent a minute on the website and I am even more impressed - check out the pics of the interior. I'm very interested in checking this out when it hits dealers - if it's laid out correctly and is a good use of space, I would 100% consider this to replace our LX570 when the time comes. Absolutely beautiful. https://www.hyundaiusa.com/palisade/index.aspx

And check out these "world first" features:
1) Blind View Monitor- when your turn signal is on, the side cameras are activated and give a video view of what's in the blind spot into a section of the instrument panel cluster
2) Ultrasonic Occupant Alert- sends you a text message if a child or pet is left in the rear seats of your vehicle.

I give a big thumbs up to both of these. Especially #2 - hope other manufacturers do something to reduce likelihood of kids dying by being left in cars.

I don't think #1 is a "world first". My sister's Honda Accord has that feature.

#2 is a nice feature though.

Side profile looks good, but how do any of you find that front end attractive?

Because it's all subjective. I really like it from the front and the side. I see a lot of Tahoe from side view, I see some Range Rover in the roof slope, and I see some Lexus and Infiniti hints in the front.

Well I think the Puma is the best looking convertible of all time. It’s subjective.

Why not? Kia and Genesis already share a sedan platform, so why not an SUV platform too?
