Hyundai Palisade SUV
1. Bentley Mulsanne
Dark-stained, 0.02-inch-thick burl walnut on solid walnut backing. Pleasingly hefty.Fun Fact: Bentley typically uses 24 veneers sliced from the root ball of a single 80-year-old tree to ring a Mulsanne cabin in wood.
2. Volkswagen Passat SEL
Not wood. Printed burl walnut appliqué on the finest plastic. Flimsy. Still costs $104 at your local parts counter.Fun Fact: Made in America. U-S-A! U-S-A!
3. Audi S8
Velvet-brown fine-grain ash veneer on magnesium-alloy backing. Light. Stiff. And the same 0.02-inch thickness as the Bentley's burl walnut.Fun Fact: This wood trim piece is half an ounce lighter than the same part rendered in Audi's copper-twill carbon fiber.
I would expect similar differences between Toyota and Lexus (from VW to Audi). And similarly from Hyundai to Genesis (although none of them currently share platforms, and they intend to keep it that way).
So is the Volkwagen Touraeg

Celebrating Lexus & Toyota from Around the Globe
You're talking about Bentley history in a Palisade thread. If that's not off-topic, I don't know what is.
