My Jeep with the 20s and the air suspension rode great, our Pacifica with the 20s and the cool suspension (only suspension there is anyways) also rides well. They both have good sidewalk height though.
Sidewall height, BTW. Anyhow, yes, good point. I was referring to the more typical rubber-band 20s that make you feel every pebble and cigarette-butt on the road. The 20s used on the Pacifica (perhaps because of the vehicle's family-orientation) do have a decent amount of rubber on the sidewalls. When I made the statement that I had never found a set of 20s that I liked the ride on, I couldn't remember if the Pacifica I first reviewed had them or not...it's probably way back in the review somewhere in the CL archives, but I didn't have time to go look it up.
Anyhow, with the Pacifica, my opinion of the ride is probably not as important as yours....I'm not a customer like you and your wife.

The 20s on the jeep grand cherokee i had had 45 series sidewalls, so nothing rubber band like at all.
but sw17ls is quite right that i didn't have air suspension and maybe that's why mine wasn't as comfortable as i wanted.
actually sw17ls is a bad influence because i'm getting pickier and pickier about ride quality... the g90 ride is great but i will probably have to try air suspension next time.

Yeah, I can identify with that.....I always liked a smooth ride and a lot of refinement, even in my youth. Most kids my age (we were in the American muscle-car era) were more concerned about power and 0-60/quarter-mile times. Because of finances and other spending priorities, I learned to tolerate smaller, less comfortable vehicles, but it wasn't really my bag.
On the air suspensions, they don't have a particularly good record of reliability. On the Lincoln Town Car, for instance, where it was a very common option, it was also very common for them to fail and have the car running around at odd tilting-angles. There were so many problems (and expensive repairs) that Ford offered a cheap, post-warranty conversion kit for those who simply got tired of dealing with it and decided to go back to conventional springs. Hopefully, Genesis will do a better job and produce more reliable units....given what I've seen on most of the hardware they they use on their vehicles, that's a reasonably safe bet.

Genesis does not offer air suspension. Yet.
correction: the equus did, but the g90 does not.

My RX350 has 20 inch wheels and surprised me with the smooth ride. The reason, I believe, is that the tires are 235/55X20. The 20 inch wheels with 55 series tires have plenty of tire cushioning. I'm sure that the higher unsprung weight of these big wheels/tires has a negative effect on ride, but I don't feel it. The tires are the latest Michelin.

Its not bad, especially compared to the third gen which felt like rocks imo. I still think Lexus should be putting 'Comfort' modes on the driver select.

Agreed....and perhaps a "Super Comfort", in the opposite manner that some vehicles have a "Sport-Plus", "Sport-Sharp", or "Track" setting for high-speed handling.

A "Sport +" mode on an RX feels like somehwat of a contradiction, even on the F Sport model.
Wouldn't mind having a comfort mode even in a sporty car, which is really where things are for most automakers. Lexus hasn't quite got that level of adjustability yet in its suspensions on its more common models, at least.

Haha! The G90 rides great even without the air suspension. The air suspension keeps the car more level, and it has a more "detached" feeling, as in theres no NVH that comes through the suspension.

Having had the LS460 without air and with air, I would never buy another one without the air suspension...potential reliability issues or not. Its a much nicer car with the air and the more I drive it the more I realize that.
At least Lexus gives you an option for air or non air. With everybody else the air is standard (MB, BMW, Audi).
Reading through this thread is making me want a G90! I had set my sights on a 2013-2017 LS or a 2016-2017 GS w/ luxury package for my next purchase, but I might have to go drive the G90 and see if that changes my mind. Plus, I've seen some people get killer deals on them, so that might be an added incentive for me. I usually avoid buying new, but if the deal is right I might consider. I had looked into a Genesis 5.0 a couple years back, but no dealer could get me the deal I wanted.

In KC, you can get 2017 and some 2018 G80 5.0's for $55k at the absolute worst, even though they sticker closer to $60k. And that's before you start negotiating. Seems tempting if you ask me.
