First year markups are expected, with all the bashing it's getting I'm surprised there's "demand" I'm curious who's lining up to get it lol.

even if there isn't demand dealers can fake it, just like a realtor who says there's other offers on the house you're trying to buy so you have to raise your offer.

A little news for the group. I was today at my local toyota garage (for changing a minor piece on the Lexus). The garagist actually managed to allow me to test drive the Supra in the first week he will be present on european ground (middle of May).

I will probably post a review in this group too if somebody is interested.

Absolutely true. I car does not have to be selling well for there to be mark up. Just the story alone, the hype, the media attention, the chatboards, are all excuses a dealer can use to make it appear something is popular. Twist of reasoning.

I would have to guess it's the purest of Toyota fanboys. The rest of the population seems to find the car bug ugly.

Never trust folks on the internet and especially on enthusiast forums. They don't buy "new" and will wait for a good deal on a used manual version anyways. Brown color too.

definitely not the purist because they want the I6 from toyota and a manual.

I think the new buyers are the new (older) guys who never got a supra in the past for whatever the circumstance and is now in the position to get one.

4 cylinder version on its way.

It’s been nearly half a year since the 2020 Toyota Supra was revealed, and in all that time we’ve only heard that North America is only getting the 335-hp 3.0-liter turbo I-6 version. Until now, that is. A certification we discovered on the Air Resources Board (ARB) website has revealed that a 2.0-liter turbo I-4-powered Supra has been certified for sale in California, along with the BMW models that share its engine.
Back in January, we reported that Toyota will offer the Supra with a four-cylinder engine in its home market of Japan. Two states of tune are available, 194 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, and 255 hp and 295 lb-ft. If those sound familiar, it’s the same exact output as the mechanically related turbo-four BMW Z4 roadster. The same engine is also used in the base 2019 BMW 3 Series. An eight-speed automatic is the only transmission listed in the Supra’s certification, so it’s likely that will be the less powerful Supra’s exclusive gearbox choice just as it is in Japan. Having a smaller engine under the hood should also result in a lighter Supra and better weight distribution versus the six-cylinder-powered car.
More here.
