hm. i find 5 series fit / finish / material to be so-so. that's one of the reason i'm not down with current 5 series. actutally since e39, i've been down on 5 series. i can see GS being clearly better than genesis. me love me some GS interior.
i think genesis probably is on par with acura/infiniti/caddy in terms of fit/finish/material. maybe tad less? from the picture, material looked good, but design bothered me. i've only seen the exterior and wasn't able to have a sit time yet. i'm a dash stroker, so interior is very important to me.
Not Caddy and Infiniti, barely Acura. From my experience at Vancouver autoshow. Only good thing about the interior is the wood, but all the materials are pretty low grade. Decent for the price, but not par with the segment it wants to compete in.
Biggest shocker was the Equus, that interior is miles below any other fullsize sedan. I expected much better and my expectations were not high.

Looking at some high-res photos of the interior of the new Genesis I do agree with your overall statement.
The only aspect of the interior I truly like are the seats. Everything else is not quite up to par. Which isn't good if Hyundai wants to pull off an LS400
I drove one, As always they look great. When you dig down deep and REALLY look at the details.....that;s where you come to the understanding WHY its so much cheaper than the comparables. Cheap materials, cheap switchgear, etc. Just nowhere near the quality and finish to others. They're getting closer though.

Thanks for the reply..it appeals because of the features and content...I will drive it. Will see how close it comes to my LS for ride. I am hoping for quiet ride and no LS wind noise. Mike
5.2 0-60mph seconds is really lethargic for a V8 with 420hp
weight obviously a factor, but 5.2 0-60 is definitely not slow. and your IS350 is tiny and light in comparison.

well obviously they're not trying to 'pull off an ls400' with this genesis.

I think you'd be better comparing the LS to the Equus if you want that kind of isolation.
The new Genesis is too heavy but the upside is that it is much more refined than the last generation and many respectable publications describe it as right in line with the 5/E/GS/A6/CTS. Old school luxury was always based on size, weight and solidity remember and there's nothing a pair of turbos can't fix. Bentleys, S-Classes, Rolls Royce's are all 5-6000 lbs but move with authority.

Well, you have to consider that V6 will be pretty slow, slower than Camry... some mags have estimated 0-60 for V6 in high 6's... but really, we dont have any reviews on the car, isnt it on sale by now? Weird.
how is the Genesis Chassis and Handling character ? is it comparable to the Q50 ?
Genesis is MUCH bigger than the Q50. It's not going to be as nimble, tight as the Q50. It's even larger than the Q70.
Chassis and handling is definitely in line with the intended functions. Super solid structure and improved dynamics over the outgoing model for sure. It won't be an M3/M5, but it should definitely placate nearly anyone shopping in the midsize luxury segment.
