E-class ain't sporty unless its an AMG. I'll believe it when I see it as the current R-spec isn't sporty but has a lovely big V-8 engine.
Compared to the standard sedans like 535i, CTS and A6 it has about the same performance and even beat out the 5-Series at least according to CarandDrivers 4 way test.
The 5.0 v8 offered by Hyundai puts out 429 hp at the crank however the 0-60 times and driving feeling seems sluggish. Is this a product of gearing or electronics?
I drove the Rspec. It is fast but not 429hp quick.
In comparison to my BMW's or when i drive Mercedes. They feel fast even when hp is in the 300 range.
Im not knocking the Genesis as I already own a Genesis coupe and will probably purchase the sedan but just curious why the "seat of your pants test" differs so much?

As far as I know it is RWD with a V8 engine. A very nice combination.
Lexus, BMW, Mercedes have all b*itched out by not offering a V8
I would easily choose this over a POS 528i
Heck I would even choose the V8 Genesis over the GS350
^^ And that Nissan above is called the Maxima here.
While I love V-8s, lets not focus on them since they make less than 5% of sales. With the Benz and Caddy turbo V-6s making V-8 power consumers will ultimately decide if they miss them or not. The M56 and Genesis have offered V-8s and they sell pretty poor with giant discounts. So the drive is rather important.
Funny how Lexus gets bashed for not being sporty but now it doesn't matter since they are sportiest in some cases. Gotta love the internetz
This is the real deal. Videos and pics all over the net. All these stupid photos of comparisons to Nissans etc. detract from the topic on hand.
Cant wait to see the R-spec.
Why in gods name would this be compared to a Nissan..... Not even close...

The V8s make up around 30% for the Genesis. The E400 is not making V8 power it is only listed at 329 hp/354 lb-ft compared to the Genesis's 333 hp(less torque however at 291 lb-ft) for its V6.
The 5.0 V8 in the Genesis isn't being sold with giant discounts please provide evidence to suggest otherwise.
First drives of the 2015 Genesis suggest that the ride is much better than the previous gen. At the track however some note that there is more body roll than acceptable however the cars were in fact prototypes and were KDM spec with softer suspension settings than what we will get here in the states.

Although a nice upscale interior (I wouldn't call it premium or luxury), it leaves me cold and somewhat cookie cutter - fan of the blue backlit buttons however

Interior is a horrendous knockoff of the 5 Series interior - look at the steering wheel controls, center stack layout, buttons, ***** etc.

Yes, that's been noted in the press, also. It's throttle programming, that's all. Hyundai needs to make it a little more aggressive.
