You know, very oddly I actually like the Azera styling as well. No, not that I think it is a great looking car like an LS460, or an Audi R8, but within its class of cars against its competitors its actually a pleasant looking car. Everyone else has all these edgy funky trendy designs that will date itself sooner than later. The Hyundai is simple and non offensive.

Now the side by side comparison too me makes the Azera look like a Camry and in comparison the Genesis looks like a Lexus ES350. It definitely looks like a higher caliber car and has much more presence.

I thought he meant the lower side strips. The chromish strip along the bumper is not bad IMHO. The 2GS and LS400 all had that. I also thought it looked pretty good on the 2nd Gen Acura RL.

I stated my opinion earlier on the body moldings on the Genesis, and this picture is a perfect example. I think the Genesis really looks cheap and tacky, and almost looks on-par with the Azera mostly because of the moldings. In fact one can argue the Azera has more pronounced character lines on the front end and thus looks more aggressive.
I can't agree. I honestly feel that the Genesis does look like a $60k vehicle. Opinions will often differ like this as looks are subjective.

The Genesis could very well turn out to be a piece of crap and cheap, but it doesn't look it too me in the pictures. It looks as upscale and more upscale than a lot of luxury cars out today from everyone, Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes.
I agree. The Genesis is definitely derivative, but in terms of exterior looks, it more than holds its own against the 5, E, GS, M, A6.

By the moldings yes I am talking about mainly the strips on the front and rear bumpers. My point simply is that if Hyundai was serious with the Genesis, then at least for the US they should have taken off those moldings.

Of course it's only my opinion, but whenever I see a picture of the Genesis the first thing that pops into my mind is "cheap" because of those moldings. I would hold the Genesis exterior in higher regard if it didn't have those moldings.

I've seen the movie commercial from youtube and I like it when they did the wind tunnel test and head-on crash test with A8. Coefficient of Drag(cd) of 0.27 is impressive for a sedan that size. And I think I read somewhere cd for porsche was like 0.29.

Looks like they did it the fuel efficiency in mind. Kudos for them. But like many stated it needs to be driven when they come on market to make more solid conclusion

So you don't get what you just said? The 2GS came out in 1998; that was TEN YEARS AGO. The LS400 died in what? 2001? Part of the cheap-looking parts are the parts that make it look dated. One of the same things that made the Azera dated along with the Sonata.

Fine.....call the Sonata and Azera "dated" if you want, but they are both excellent, comfortable, well-built cars that don't beat you up over bumps. I wouldn't mind having either one in my parking space.

I LOVE those chrome strips on the front bumper. MB has them on all their models too I think. It breaks up a sea of plastic and metal otherwise, one of my complaints about the LS460 (front and rear).

There's 'minimalist' and there's just 'plain'.

There are two different interiors for the Genesis. You probably won't be able to get the leather dash on the V6 model, or it might be an option. The leather dash is likely to be on the V8 model.

Don't be expecting the leather dash on all Genesis models.

The non-leather dash also looks like it lacks navigation so that's probably a base or low-end Genesis model.

If I were to buy a Genesis, I'd want navigation and the wood interior. I'm not crazy about the leather dash...

There is more than a dash materials change in comparing the 2 pics, look at gear indicator etc., It appears one is a concept and the other the real production model or something else is up with the 2nd pic. Though both are nice.

I never thought I would say this, but that Hyundai H badge on the steering wheel looks so much better than that Pontiac looking one in the 2nd pic. The 2nd pic had too much wood. Like every car, too much wood makes anything look cheap. Even the Lexus cars when that had that optional wood that covered the climate and radio looks stupid. When you use wood, you have to use it in the right places and not everywhere.

Man, I hope they don't use that Equus badge on the steering wheel for the USA Genesis. If I ever did buy one, I might have to replace it with a Hyundai steering wheel That sounds so weired for me to say, but I tend to just go with what looks good. In this case the Hyundai badge looks better.
