Swearing isn't ghetto. I was just on a teams call at work where profanity was used in normal business discussion. This isn't some small business either, everybody on the meeting was a highly compensated professional.

One warning and then ban them if they get personal or make attacks.

We were having lively discussion without getting personal a couple weeks ago. Maybe one person got personal but the vast VAST majority of us did not.

Like, IDGAS what people say about Trump. Nobody should care who’s talked about as long as said posters aren’t insulted. Just don’t anyone get personal toward anyone.

The parent company has said No politics. We've discussed it amongst the moderators and Ultimately the parent company has decided "No" to political discussion or debates.
Probably because those few people can't wrap their heads around someone else opinion that differs from theirs. Take it personal and then carry it over to other sections. Like what someone did here...

Politics on a thread can sometimes lead to a 2 to 3 or even 4 person back and forth that blows up the thread and doesn't allow others to join in on a healthy discussion.

These discussions can easily degrade down to attack-accuse-insult mode, that is no longer fun or what it's intended to be.

I keep yelling from the sidelines "Agree to Disagree and move on!!"

Or I've just chosen to participate in threads I'm comfortable with, that are fun and light-hearted and don't seem like they would go down a mean-spirited path.

If @mmarshall says he doesn't swear, then I'm fine with that. If you swear then good for you. I'm not going to disbelieve someone just because the majority of people do. Nor will I accuse them of not telling the truth.

We are all adults. Free to be whoever we are and not feel bad about it.

To each their own Victory sign

So, here is my take on it.

Politics are a reality, and the car industry is a political industry, so I think the mention of politics is what it is...hard to talk about cars without at least mentioning the political realities.

BUT, this is a car forum, and everything being about politics in life is exhausting. I don't see why we need to have full fledged political debates here.

I appreciate another discussion here on things to improve on and what is working. Thus we will keep this open to discuss. I think there are some great points made here:

1. Car chat is to try to take us away from the madness to discuss cars
2. For a variety of reasons everyone and everything is very politically charged
3. We need to find that meeting in the middle here instead of headlining our stance
4. Lexus is moving away from F and performance so that means less people here enthused.

We haven’t been crystal clear of changes as we decided to walk softly instead of hammering things. @bitkahuna and myself are the new admins/community team leaders. So it starts with us. We have mostly the same moderators/community team in place. We are all volunteers. IB has been very very supportive of things.

We have gone back and forth with the politics thing here. A debate forum won’t return. We have been less intrusive in spirited discussions but what I am seeing is the same jabs and insults being hurled and it’s getting tiring fast to where we will abolish all politics.

I believe we are all adults and I believe we can conduct ourselves in a manner that can talk politics if it relates to the automotive topic. For example “The bombing of Iran has caused a snowball effect of oil prices and gas prices going up”. Factual and relevant. What we are getting is “So and so is an idiot and you are an idiot too” which doesn’t help anything.

If you have seen my posts i am trying hard to let people talk a bit more freely on automotive topics with politics but it feels sooner than later we will implement a zero politics ban.

The grey area is what makes a community great. See things from the other side before immediately firing off a response. Don’t disrespect people. You can also ignore a topic or person.

I also believe meets help and hope to host them again soon. When we shake hands and break bread together and laugh and scream we make connections that can last a lifetime.

Look i’m no saint either but im older and have learned some things since I have been gone. I ask you all kindly just be nicer.

And I know we all have private battles going on and if anyone needs to talk to someone just drop me a line.

Now I ask you all to recommend me for the Nobel
Peace Price. (we have to find humor and joke and laugh and not take things so personal)

Mike, if you (or anyone else) can actually succeed in getting people here to stop insulting one another, you will DESERVE a Nobel Peace Prize.

I also think it’s important to remember that everybody is a person, and to try and limit what you say to people and how you say it to what you would say to them face to face.

Ok, maybe I misread your post. I though you were implying that moderators should issue bans/delete posts, thus I made an analogy to cancel culture. I personally enjoy more freedom to discuss whatever, I'll just stay out of threads I have no interest in, like 80% of EV discussions.

OK, here's my take. I know I myself brought up politics, but politics really shouldn't be discussed here due to it's polarizing effects. Next, personal attacks should absolutely not be allowed, under any circumstances. Constant repetitive grievances about not liking certain brands, be it Toyota, Lexus, BMW and yes Tesla. Make your point, and for God sake's move on. And lastly, baiting and flame baiting should be a no no.
