Now, every friggin thread is interjected with personal viewpoints with their hyperpartisanship. Has the "culture wars" now been extended here as well?

I thought we were one community of Lexus enthusiasts (at one time or another), but now it's about how it's this states fault or that policy or the govt, etc. What the f happened? Are ya'll so bored and have heavily evangelized in your politics that everything has to be viewed accordingly? JfK

It does seem like the mods have been more liberal in political references lately, but to be fair, tariffs, gas prices and EV issues have been prominent topics about cars to "chat" about lately.

But.... I don't know what version of Car Chat you are remembering that was devoid of "personal viewpoints"? That's literally 90% of what Car Chat is.....

Yea seriously. If you dont want differing opinions, a brochure is best for you.

Seems like damn near everything is political now. Everything is black and white. At least some gray still exists here on this forum. Need a 'bringing gray(or grey) back' movement...

Unfortunately this is also the result of Lexus shedding most if not all of it's enthusiast-oriented products so people have nothing else to talk about except other brands, which invariably brings up hot magnet topics like new vs used (wealth comparisons), ICE vs EV (political discussion), and government regulations (need I elaborate?).

I can't really say this is a problem unique to Car Chat either, like you said it's also prominent on Facebook and also on Reddit, where the "me me me" discussion takes priority over anything involving the cars themselves.
I agree with this sentiment. Also, when you produce less enthusiast oriented products, your Lexus forums will be more populated by non-car enthusiasts in general. So when you have a group of non car enthusiasts in a place together, it makes sense that they wouldn't really talk about cars anymore.

Last thing we need here is more cancel culture. Grow a thicker skin and don't participate in the threads that **** you off.

Lol...If you think asking to refrain from politics is cancel culture, you're like the biggest snowflake around....I laugh at all the attacks in Cali, but just surprised by it. I can start a nice "how's that gas prices doing for y'all as well", but I'm not that shallow...

Why can’t we talk politics? There’s a lot going on these days.

One warning and then ban them if they get personal or make attacks.

We were having lively discussion without getting personal a couple weeks ago. Maybe one person got personal but the vast VAST majority of us did not.

Like, IDGAS what people say about Trump. Nobody should care who’s talked about as long as said posters aren’t insulted. Just don’t anyone get personal toward anyone.
