I've been away for like 6 months from Car chat do to work, the holidays, life, etc., but what the f is going on? I go here to get away from the noise of the real world (specially politics) to talk about the love (and often times addiction) to cars. Now, every friggin thread is interjected with personal viewpoints with their hyperpartisanship. Has the "culture wars" now been extended here as well?
I thought we were one community of Lexus enthusiasts (at one time or another), but now it's about how it's this states fault or that policy or the govt, etc. What the f happened? Are ya'll so bored and have heavily evangelized in your politics that everything has to be viewed accordingly? JfK
Politics seems be more interesting. Moderators should consider that the worldwide auto industry is very political at the moment. in all aspects. A moderate degree of politics seems to be appropriate.
Allowing swearing was a wrong decision
Closing interesting threads is also mistake
hope my feedback goes to some use and is given in good faith

Hey now...don't make me start and EV vs Gas thread in a middle of a "war"! 🫣 😁 /s
Some politics makes sense, but when a whole thread is hijacked by it, then it becomes quite abnormal...especially for the 20+ years I've been on here..

Agree. It’s why I don’t really participate anymore. Most of the conversation and tone now in car chat is better suited within WhatsApp, Facebook or Subreddit groups.
If anything, it dilutes the spirit how ClubLexus was founded, seeing the quality decline is a shame - having been on here for 20 years.
In general people are just increasing post counts rather than the quality of the post itself.

This has been my observation as well and the other reason for my lesser activity. There is less discussion about cars and more discussion about how XYZ fits into each person's individual lifestyles. EV discussion has also evolved from interesting technical discussions about different brand approaches into virtue signalling for or against political figures and personal attacks regarding people's lifestyles. Unfortunately this is also the result of Lexus shedding most if not all of it's enthusiast-oriented products so people have nothing else to talk about except other brands, which invariably brings up hot magnet topics like new vs used (wealth comparisons), ICE vs EV (political discussion), and government regulations (need I elaborate?).
I can't really say this is a problem unique to Car Chat either, like you said it's also prominent on Facebook and also on Reddit, where the "me me me" discussion takes priority over anything involving the cars themselves.

The thing is that government policies shape the kind of cars we get. It's because of govt policies that we end up with crappy turbo 4s in everything and that Cyberturd thing on wheels. Also, how boring would it be to just talk about a car? Pretty soon we would be discussing how well or how bad a radio button is designed. I feel it is important to just let people express opinions as long as they are respectful to each other. If the forum becomes too restrictive, it will not grow. Just look at that introduce yourself noob thread; its quite sad when like 3 new people posted.

Are you telling me you dont swear outside of forums? Like seriously? I have yet to meet a person that doesnt swear so to me its just part of life. Just be respectful and dont direct it at someone on this forum.
