don't feel too out of the loop haha the century has been doing this well before they gave it the V12 in 1997, it's just that nobody knew because it was never sold outside of japan and they love keeping the coolest stuff for themselves

the options list for my exact lexus sold in japan branded as a toyota celsior FAR exceeds the 'lexus' version... even though the LS 400 was literally designed from the start to be sold to affluent north americans branded as a lexus lol

I love the ultrasonic side mirrors on the JDM version of the 400, water just can't stick to them at all.

The V12 will just keep going and going. I'm not sure why you doubt it when you have faith in your M113 engine, the V12 is the cost no object version of that
That's why you change the timing belt every 100k, it's just part of the maintenance. And an LS430 won't keep going and going? I've had it 14 years... drives the same as it ever did.

I do have faith in my M113, it's wayyyy less complex than a TTV12.

M113 won't last as long as 3UZ, though. It's still a 300k mile engine and I love it.

There's something wrong with the Maybach, it took off really slow. Those are fast cars with TTV12s.

The V12 is your M113 with 4 more cylinders and no variable intake on top of higher quality parts and reinforcements all around.

When's the last time you did the belt on the UZ? If it's been a while I would at least open a cover and check for cam seal leakage and belt condition.

there's so much torque it requires finesse to get it off the line well... if you just stomp on the gas the ESP will kick in and you go nowhere, if you turn ESP off and hit the gas it just does a crazy burnout and you also go nowhere lol

companies like jaguar and bmw have horrendous reputations with their v12's, but as striker says, mercedes ones are great.

This, the ESP comes in like a hammer on the M275/279 cars and doesn't really relent until 40+ mph.

In that era if you want a hard launch you need a W12 car as they were are the only native AWD platform cars and only ones with ANY AWD system back then.

2017 was the first year anyone else shoehorned a system in. Rolls got it 18 and Merc in 21

Mechanic's shop down the block from my shop had this on his sidewalk. He doesn't work on fancy cars, more of a regular neighborhood mechanic, someone pulled up in an emergency. He was running some diagnostics, the engine was only firing on 9 cylinders, lol.
