I kinda figured out how to explain how the SL accelerates versus the other cars.
the E55 hauls *** like a maniac from 1000 rpm and can pretty much instantly break traction on command at any point in 1st gear (265 section tires really aren't enough), 75 to 100 in 5th gear takes like 3 seconds lol
everything now is AWD with smooth spooling turbos you really have to try to make the current cars misbehave, but to put a car like the E55 on sale in 2002 that's RWD only i'm almost shocked the mercedes corporate legal team approved it lmao... with ESP off you seriously have to be mindful of what you're doing

UGH! Your TRAC goes all the way off???? Mine doesn't. If you turn it off it will let you have more fun but it will never fully shut off. I can't even imagine the wheel this thing would lay... oh wait here's a pic before they had TRAC.
Go to 1:45 and look at the burnout that comes up a second or two later. 100mph in the 1/4 is insane in 1990.

well technically no it doesn't, however there's a 'hidden menu' you can access in the cluster from which you can activate 'dyno mode' which completely disables traction control and ABS as well... but even without doing that and just pressing the ESP off button like a normal person there's so much instant brute force it just lights up the tires anyway and does a crazy burnout lol
but yes in the UZ it's the VVT-i and something else called ACIS (variable length intake manifold) that really gives it great mid range punch

516 and 505 are two numbers that are tattooed on my brain.
The 516 lb/ft of torque the E55 has was such an insane number in 2002. Hell, it's still a lot now. 505 was the hp for that wild 7.0L V8 in the C6 Z06. I don't know why those numbers are so easily memorable. I guess it was anything breaking the 500 # was special. I always associate them with each other even though they're very different cars.
516lb/ft is plenty now. And in 5 years from now lol, etc.
What irks me now is that car manufacturers think we all want hybrids with just stupid power numbers in high end car, I would guess the majority of the buyers just want ICE.
I read an article on the Bentley Super Speed, it has EV range and they even said you can feel the crap switching over.
Pass. Bring back the 6.75L V8. Guarantee most Bentley owners would be jussssst fine with that.
Got a quote from CarMax on my GS. I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised with this. No final decision yet, but this is about $5k north of what I thought I could get for it. KBB is at about $34k for trade-in value.

oh yea they both embody and exude that mid 00s energy, which really was arguably peak car craziness for many reasons... so many different varieties and flavors to make crazy power without making any apologies
i mean when the E55 and C6 were in production the fast and furious movies were still about cars! what a concept lol

Carmakers dont think we want that, they are hamstrung into offering us that to meet regulations. Case in point the PHEV S63...as soon as the M176 Evo was Euro 7 compliant, no more PHEV.
The only reason the Bentley is a hybrid is Euro 7 compliance.

Wow! $40,500 is a great offer.
I forgot to follow up. Are you moving to South Carolina for that new Boeing plant? Is that why you're selling the GS? I remember you saying how much you love that car.

Yea, mid 00's energy is a perfect way to describe it. Such a unique time. I think they were both in production in 2006 but I could be wrong on that though.
F1 was at it's peak engine wise too. They were still using V10's in 06.

thats very good, cars do not appreciate so it is no brainer.

That is a great offer. Have you by any chance got one from Carvana? When I was thinking of selling our 5 Series I'd get offers from both now and then and sometime they'd be close to each other and other times one would be a grand or two higher than the other guy.

engine wise but also with respect to design and size too... there's no need to take up that much track space! monaco had basically no overtaking as it was but now it's just silly trying to maneuver these behemoths through narrow century old streets
i think the Z06 was rolling out pretty much right as the E55 ended and became the E63
