for several years during the 90s my grandparents had one of those continentals and an olds 88, the lincoln was shitty enough often enough that when it became time to replace the olds they ran to consumer reports (his favorite magazine lol) and bought the best rated reliability car... and that new LS 400 was the last car they ever bought!

as a kid though i remember having more fun in that lincoln backseat since the ride was noticeably more bouncy and like you were at sea lmao... also i remember thinking the digital dash was more fun to watch

He didn't really have a lot of problems with the Continental. That air suspension issue was really it. He only had it 5 years but he put a lot of miles on it, 30k a year. It did have a super fun late 80s digital dash!

yea i think it was mostly the suspension that gave issues, as well as other minor things but i dont really remember them ever getting stranded by it or anything

my european stationed WW2 vet grandpa would NEVER get a german car so the lexus was a compromise at japanese haha

That Sable my Grandparents had never missed a beat.

I mean, they didn't exactly put 200,000 miles on it but at that time my GPA had a Firebird so the Sable was their main car.

My uncle had an 86 Town Car which he later replaced with a 90-something continental. He liked both cars and we had some good road trips in them.

His conti was like this, but burgundy/maroon. He would later replace it with a red Mk VIII.

hopefully the auto industry goes more backwards with all those gas engines that they actually come out with a full-size body on frame Lincoln town car with a V8.

Am I the only one on here that hated those old boats? I remember seeing them new back in the day thinking they were awful. A stain on American automotive history in my opinion.

The Town Cars and all? Didn’t hate them but they weren’t anything we ever wanted.

Yes. I thought they were all awful. A friend’s parents got a ne Continental and I remember thinking it was…not great.

My uncle bought a Town Car and my dad was all over it. I was like “really dad?”
