General Car Conversation - 2026 Part 1
The Continental at the time was a good luxury sedan. Compare it to a Cadillac in that 1990 space and the Continental was like a space ship by comparison. In 92 when the new Seville came out that was a different story.
They were everywhere too. We belonged to a country club and literally 1/2 the lot was Continentals.

Seems to be a common theme now for Lexus. V10 noises in the new TZ, and Bmw exhaust tune via the speakers in the IS.

A V10 is fire, fury, and anger in physical form you feel in your spine and that washes over you. It's not something that can be replicated by an EV.
IMO it's an absolute disgrace they have that "feature" at all and it reeks of desperation that a gimmick like that was even suggested. They should have had it play a 3.5 V6 soundtrack if anything so it's more true to what the car is.
Im biased as hell because in my mind a V10 is 1300+ WHP of absolute fury that nothing else I've ever felt compares to.

Thats the pre refresh version
The STS was a "better car" for sire, but it was nowhere near as comfortable as that Continental.
His two favorite sedans he had were that Continental and his 98 LS400.
I mean, a "disgrace"? Its a fun feature. If you don't like it just don't use it. I don't have any problem with carmakers putting fun features on cars. Cars don't have to be so serious.

There are no V10 nosies in the TZ, just some speakers playing a recording.

Conti was bigger inside but Caddy had a massive advantage on the flip side....... V8 power. Contis had a weak 140hp 3.8L V6 that came in the nicest Tauruses.
We had a '90 Seville, it was fast... not by today's standards but I remember it, it was quick and sorta loud for a Caddy (fine by me) It was 4.5L, 180/245. It wasn't a heavy car at all. I've been in plenty of Contis and they were very quiet inside and the engine was fine if you just hum along but wheezy if you stomped it. That Seville felt pretty damn good OTOH.
Go to about 36:00 where he drives it and guns it and comments on how quick it was.

The Seville had it too but it wasn't nearly as expansive.
See we had a 1987 Seville with the 4100, and it was god awful... slower than a dog. I still remember how slow that thing was.
Then my father picked up that 1990 and the difference was stunning, in power and acceleration.
