Hi. I have a 2020 RX450h and the lower side molding (below the doors) is detaching at the front of the molding (near the front wheel) on both sides. Just the first 1-3 clips have popped out and the remaining clips continue to hold the molding firmly in place. I've tried to push the detached clips into their respective holes in the body but they won't snap into place. The dealer says the entire trim needs to be replaced at a cost of ~$800 which seems excessive. It seems as though I should be able to just replace a few clips and snap the molding back into place but I can't find anything related to this online.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?
Agree 100%. Last year, the wind took hold of my driver's side door and dented the upper trim on my ES. My local shop (Urban Autobody in Franklin Lakes, NJ) replaced the trim for what I would have spent on parts alone.
Yea the clips are available. But it looks like there is a stud and nut as well so did that come loose of the trim? I recognize that clip it doesn't have good holding power.
I don't see the stud and nut. Only the frontmost 3-4 clips are exposed so far (on each side of the vehicle) so I'm not sure about the existence/location of the stud and nut. I'm going to order the clips and see how it goes from there. Thank you all.
