To me I just don’t get it. For one inside it’s a cave, visibility out the back is terrible. They lack the cargo capacity that is a big benefit of an SUV. Just not my thing. Having had both this and the regular GLC as loaners I would get the regular one every time.
I do like how these drive.
Oh, I admit they’re inferior functionality wise. But as far as styling is concerned, I think look they usually look better.
But with the GLC, I prefer the regular version. It’s a really good looking crossover and the coupe version looks worse. The tail lights on that GLC coupe scream 1997 Escort to me!
Oh I get them. I actually like some of them. I think the X6 looks cool. And a think the GV80 Coupe and Cayenne coupe look better than the SUVs they’re based on.
Exactly why styling is so subjective. Ignoring the smaller space and the confusion of it being a small suv/bigger sedan almost like it doesn’t know what it wants to be, I just don’t like the looks. I’m the opposite, I don’t like the X6, GLE or Cayenne coupe versions of the car solely from a looks standpoint but know many that do like them better than the SUV versions. I will say the Buick one I’ve seen actually looks pretty good.
As popular as that vehicle was, new covers may (?) still be available for it.
They don't sell covers but they sell the whole headlamp assemblies. Theyre about $275 a piece, if they can make them look way better for $100 that would be preferable. If the car was in better shape overall I would spring for the new lights. Just look at all the chips with peeling paint all over the front of the hood.
They actually do make replacement lenses for my car. But you have to take the headlights out of the car and put them in the oven to soften the glue holding the headlight together, and it’s not something I feel comfortable doing..
I’d rather pay a professional to restore them and PPF them.
I purchased a new 2025 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance Premium from Lexus of North Miami in early December 2024. I received the car and took delivery at my residence in Cantonment, FL in early January 2025. I paid a sale price of $68,500 for my new car…my dream car at that, MSRP was $69,000. For maintenance I brought this vehicle to Lexus of Mobile for 4 oil changes so far this year, and I have documented proof that twice they used 5W20 engine oil in my new Lexus and once used 0W20. My owner’s manual for my Lexus is 500 F Sport strictly says to use 5W30 engine oil when filling oil. This ultra high performance car can even benefit from higher viscosity oil 10W30, while operating at high temperatures. It’s 108+ degrees heat index lately in the areas I live, work, drive, and service my vehicle. So my vehicle should at minimum be filled with 5W30. My problem is that this vehicle is at risk of serious problems in the future due to the wrong oil being filled in my car at Lexus of mobile. The service manager Peggy referred me to her shop foreman Aaron who insulted my intelligence by saying read my owners manual so I reread it. Aaron, additionally lied to me by saying a lower viscosity would be better suited for my vehicle in these hotter climates, where my vehicle is operated. I do believe they thought I wouldn’t question what they are doing…the service manager, Peggy says for the last 6 years they have put the wrong oil in all RC F’s, LC 500’s, and IS 500’s. Aaron the service Forman says it is all he had to choose from. Why is Lexus of mobile putting the wrong oil in these ultra high performance cars. Lexus corporate representative also my case manager said read your owners manual. So I read a 3rd time and it still says IS 500’s get 5W30.
Any advice or ideas on how to handle my situation would be greatly appreciated.
The oil they used won’t damage your car.

maybe their computer has it registered as a IS350 F Sport Performance. very sketchy that they won’t use the proper oil. Basically the computer should just tell them

I have to do that soon, and on these exact lenses. I’m doing it not to replace lenses, but because the adjuster mechanisms inside are broken and the lights won’t aim. I have done it on other non-Lexus (Volvo, Acura/Isuzu) lenses before and it wasn’t heinous. So on the GS I either:
- Open and attempt to the repair adjuster mechanisms, or
- $$$ for new headlights as there are no affordable options I can find.
I will let you know how it goes if you monitor the 3GS sub; I’ll post about it when I do it. I’m also taking advantage of the fact I have to take the bumper cover off to remove the headlights to repaint said cover. Car should look quite sharp afterwards as I corrected the paint everywhere else last year and refinished the wheels. I really enjoy driving this car, even compared to new ones, so some elbow grease and minor cosmetic work to get it back to peak shape is worth it to me vs. another car.
Actually it will. The motor manual on the F series v8s, specifically call for 5w30 with shorter OCI. At one point the RCFs, if memory serves, actually weirdly wanted dino/conventional oil 5w30.
I cant believe (well i can) a dealership service dept would blatantly lie and not familiarize themselves with their own product offerings. $ over everything.
Op, just bring your manual, and point them to the page where it explicitly states the 5w30 requirement. I get if they use bulk tank cheapo 5w30.

@WesHowell2025IS500 I would stop taking it to this dealer as they're incompetent. I would take it to an indy mechanic (that's what I do). As Steve mentioned, I don't think any engine damage occurred but if they can't get this right you have to go elsewhere.
This was happening when the IS 500 was new. Guys were posting stories about various dealers across the country putting the wrong oil in and not putting enough in. The 500 takes 9.1 qts (including filter)
of 5W-30.
This dealer is very careless because all 500's have a sticker that's pretty hard to miss. It says "ENGINE OIL SAE 5W-30". Not the best pic buy you guys get the idea. As soon as you open the hood it catches your eye.
