It’s really to do with noise insulation. Camry with the same hybrid engine is quieter. ESh is even more so like a completely different car.

Well sure, but I wouldn't call the Rav 4 "noisy".

I increased the ruggedness. There wasn't enough black plastic cladding.

Just a touch more, and I think you'll be there...

That is true. But we are talking the new Rav4 in here right?

Yes - I am agreeing with you. If midsized SUVs are moving away from V6s, compact SUVs are definitely not going to offer them.

It's noisy as hell vs many things. Not refined at all and chatters way too much at idle, almost as bad as a Kia 4 cyl with DI noise etc. Under load it's also loud and needs 5k rpm plus to move well, CVT stuff like the hybrids are the worst since they are ALWAYS stuck in the buzz RPM range

The new land cruiser 4 cyl is also bad, but unlike a Rav4 it's not excusable at the price it is.

And should be expected since it's a more expensive car, the Rav4 is something I would never give a glace at since it costs way too much for such low performance and quality. Much rather buy something used that is actually good

GR RAV4 🤣
Toyota just loves to water down its sports “brand”

No more GR Supra but now you get a FWD based hybrid CUV!

The fact that ppl spend close to $40k on these things is crazy - the profit margins for Toyota must be amazing.

I have whats largely regarded as being one of the quietest cars made and a long history of having quiet cars, "noisy as hell" is a dramatic overstatement lol. Its a compact Toyota with a 4 cyl, drive a similar Honda they sound pretty similar.

I disagree. The Rav4 under load did not inspire any confidence in me - it was course and thrashy and I wanted to back off throttle input. I was surprised that it made it past the Toyota NVH department.

If the CRV is anything like my nearly 20 year old Accord, I'd take that any day (even with the CVT) over the Rav4.

I've driven several of them, the hybrids and never felt that way at all. CRV feels very similar. If you wind them out they don't sound good, but thats true of any 4cyl car with a CVT.
