They’re not rushing it out. it’s been planned for a long time. I remember reading when the EV Charger was revealed that there was gonna be a gas version with the Hurricane I6 available.
Just got back from a cabin in WV for the weekend. I rented a Grand Cherokee to drive, which wound up being a Mazda CX9 with BALD front tires. Friday was torrential rain for the drive down there and they were hydroplaning like crazy. Brakes at 75 MPH made the ABS activate. Unlike where I normally go in WV this was 160 miles of back country roads, sketchy does not begin to describe it...
Would have been way better off in the S580! But they lay gravel down on roads in WV in the winter so it was good to be in a rental car.

wtf that's a major yikes! i'm typically not a fan of lawsuit culture but you were genuinely put in danger by this rental company! that car couldn't have passed any kind of recent inspection and be deemed roadworthy

The kid at the Avis counter when I dropped it off didnt care, but I did submit a review and I opened a ticket with Avis about it. We'll see what happens.

Yeah, it was very unsafe to drive...
did you notice the tires before driving off and insist you be given something else?

You should have to make sure the tires are safe.

No, never occured to me to have to check, I made that comment in the message I sent Avis, I trusted the car would have legal tires on it and my trust in them was misplaced.
It wasn't until I was already on the road that I noticed the car really didn't handfle the pools of water in the road well and my guess was the tires were bald. I stopped for food and sure enough they were.
You’re old school. I guess the E39 is enough to bully some 2.0Ts🤣🤣
j/k

My sister had a rental from enterprise. It leaked about a quart of oil at my house😡. I went with her to turn it back in and the enterprise guy that looked over it I pointed out that it had a substantial oil leak and he even bent down and saw it had already began to drip again. He said we’ll get it checked out.
Less than 5 minutes later he was handing those same keys to another renter. My sister knew the people getting her old rental, and I told them hey it’s leaking oil pretty bad. These rental companies don’t check/care. Just like when I had a rental Q5, it called for 91 gas and I put 87 in it. 100% believe the rental company also ran 87 gas in it. Matter of fact I received the rental Q5 with a half tank of gas. For the 2900 miles I had it, it saw 87. I’m certain it saw 87 after I turned it back in.
