General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 1
So the best overlander of them all:
1) Price of entry six figures
2) Lower cargo volume with that crazy battery eating up tons of room. Cant slide 2nd row seats forward or back, and third row power seats are slow (look at the model y)
3) 18 gallon fuel tank
4) no camping mode
5) brings back a starter alternator for backup?

Yep, reddit is chock full of young people who actually prefer low HP FWD cars over anything RWD/AWD or with more than about 200-250 HP. Something about "slow car fast".
It's probably actually cope for not having the financial position to buy a sportier car than a Civic.

ls500: 206″ L x 75″ W x 58″ H
so ls500 is longer, wider, and only an inch shorter.
inside LS430:
Front headroom: 38.1 in Rear headroom: 37.9 in
Front legroom: 44 in Rear legroom: 37.6 in
Front shoulder room: 58.3 in Rear shoulder room: 58.2 in
Cargo capacity: 20.2 cu ft
EPA interior volume: 107.2 cu ft
inside LS500:
Front headroom: 37.3 in Rear headroom: 37.3 in.
Front legroom: 41.0 in Rear legroom: 38.9 in.
Front hip room: 55.5 in Rear hip room: 55.1 in.
Front shoulder room: 58.8 in Rear shoulder room: 56.4 in.
Cargo capacity: 16.95–17.0 ft
i guess the doors and center console must be wider on the ls500 because the car is wider and longer but has less room. it not a massive different though but in perception it is.
This is terrible

EV and ICE camp modes aren't necessarily one and the same, as one brings a massive battery to the campsite and the other usually just a small 12v, but it can mean something like limited but specific features like charge ports and heating remaining on or powered up with the vehicle otherwise off, or the polar opposite and everything staying turned off and powered down with doors etc still open to eliminate power drain.
True, but you have to consider that Striker223 buys a lot of used vehicles. When you add all that up, he may (?) be spending more on vehicles than those who buy moderately-priced new vehicles on a regular basis, like I do every 5 years or so, and Steve leasing two new vehicles every 3-4 years or so.
throttle house recently posted the 2nd part of their road trip series from toronto to montreal
in both videos the camera crew got their truck broken into and gear stolen... the craziest thing to me was after it happened again in montreal they literally tracked the gear using the airtags that were in the bags, called the police and they were only told to come down to the station to file a report and would otherwise not be helped

Yep. And other luxury cars sold in healthy amounts too then. But Americans like their crossovers and SUVs, (and pickups) and I get it. Other than the S-Class which will always be the stalwart, luxury sedans are sort of dead here.
It's just different times. Today I passed 4 Denalis before I even got to the first light after I left my house. I'm gonna take pictures and post some stuff bc I know the amount of SUVs I mention, that it sounds crazy. But it's true.

Every time I trade I come closer and closer to going to a luxury SUV. One of these times I will.

Do you still recommend the chemical guys “new leather” spray?
I’ve been using wonder wafers “new leather” wafer things you throw under the seat. And I’m pretty happy with them. But I’m always open to something new if I like it. I actually prefer a wafer or something I can throw under the seat versus spraying the floormats.

Also I'd rather die than take a road trip in a Fiat 500.
My sister had a Fiat. She had a minor fender bender at speed less than 25mph. On the drive home after the accident, the motor went kapoof. Insurance decided to total out the vehicle. Car was a POS. She now has a NX350 F sport.
Once when I was picking up my rental car (likely a Tahoe at LAS), there was a couple in their mid-20s being escorted to their car by an attendant. When he stopped at a Fiat 500, the woman got this scowl on her face and said "I am not. Driving. THAT."
I barely held my laughter until I was in the car.

sitting up higher?
easier to get in and out (in most cases)?
more people room?
more cargo room?
"baller" status?

i could see you in an escalade but i guess it won't fit in your garage!
