I did get out in the snow in the S580 today, we had about 8.5 inches. it did GREAT! Much better than the S560, I can only assume its because it doesn't have the wide staggered tires in the back...really solid and confidence inspiring
Just to show how deep the unplowed snow was, and this is with the car in its high suspension mode
This I thought was cool. Every time the tracton control kicked in, which I really needed to give it enough gas to make it kick in, it dropped a pin on the map to show a slippery area. I wonder if it shares that information to all MBUX users?
Have you ever considered getting something just for the winter snow? I won’t drive couple of our cars if the ground is wet let alone snow🫣. Until my wife started DD the plug in, it never saw rain…insert Prius.

We don’t have any real snow around here anymore to make that worthwhile
I drive my cars, snow, rain, just wash ‘em and they’re fine.
Wait till you see it up close from the front and side, and find the thousands of Maybach logos that are everywhere. No I'm not kidding. There are hundreds of them in the grille, and hundreds more on the C pillars.
The vast majority of the time, I DO use it. But my point was that if you are parked on a level surface where the vehicle is not going to roll, it serves little if any useful function....and using it just adds wear to the components.
If Buick was concerned about the wear, they wouldn't have equipped your car with Auto Hold. Which, when enabled, engages the parking brake every time you stop moving for more than a second.
???? We just did today....although, granted, we haven't had a lot of them in the last few years. Last year, we had only one significant snow.....and none the year before that.

I've always used my parking brakes in all of my cars, whether when parking on flat ground or on hills. Heck, I even use them when parked at home in the garage. It's just habit and I don't think to myself "nah, it's flat, I don't need to use it." It's just not a thought. Obviously it's automatic in the GS, but it's manual in the Tundra and Highlander.
As far as additional wear, I feel like it's one of those mechanical systems that will last longer when constantly exercised. They can get corroded, lock up, etc. if they aren't used enough. Or at least that's how I've always viewed them.
Correct, if you use them they don't fail. I had a 1992 manual car for a while and it's original parking brake worked fine

They need to make sure it's clear to everyone they spent the extra money on the trim bits.

Right, two snow storms in 3 years. Not enough to have a dedicated snow car

Nope
All I own are 2 RWD BMW M cars, sitting safely in the garage, all nice and clean. So what did I do as this snow storm approached Maryland? I rented a Mazda CX5 AWD off Turo on Sunday afternoon, for the next week to 10 days. This is far cheaper than me owning a 3rd car for the occasional snow storm. And when I really thought about how many trips I'd likely be taking over the next few weeks, I maybe didn't even need to rent a car. I could have simply used Uber/Lyft when I do need to leave the house over the next few weeks, and that probably would have been even less expensive than renting.
