Last night I drove to a friend's house about 40 miles away in the South Bay, and hit a downpour that brought most cars to 50 mph due to visibility being limited. Well, Elon saw the road clearly and FSD did an amazing job navigating the freeway, keeping a steady 70 mph and clearly seeing the road, not even going off course even a little.
That would be an improvement over V13, then. It was forcing me to go 55 in a 70 on a trip I took a few months ago. If I didn't take over, I would have been run over.

It definitely wasn't driving slow. It was going over 80 mph, I had to put it in Hurry to slow it down a bit. Heavy rain literally had zero impact. And it was a heavy downpour
Just completed an over 1000 miles trip, and most of it was handled by FSD. And it did an awesome job 👍 I let it do it's thing, and it made it's way strategically around slower traffic, in most cases beating out aggressive drivers who made rash lane changes, almost causing accidents and getting caught behind slower cars through miscalculated lane changes. The newest update made lane changes 99 percent successful, and FSD did it safely, calculated, and didn't **** anyone off
During one part of my drive, there was a three car collision, which FSD saw in advance and avoided. It even saw the car behind me was going to fast and moved out of the way, avoiding a rear collision, as FSD is constantly monitoring cars in front, at the side, and behind. I was busy listening to a podcast when this all happened, I would have never reacted as quickly, and it was just a blip on my trip. Simple amazing.
I've tripped many cars over the years, everything from Camry's, different minivans, Tahoe's, and even a Mustang GT I rented (5.0L, 6 speed manual through Turo), and the best trip cars to me are my Tesla's. The Polestar was fun to trip, but dealing with charging was a nightmare. And with FSD, it makes it the perfect car. Leaving it in Mad Max mode, it drove similar to my style, except a thousand times smarter and relaxing.
Family member just bought a new Lexus, they commute daily. Tried to emphasize that a Tesla will drive to work and home and take so much stress off their life. And no more oil changes, no more dealer visits. I failed to convince them.

I don't lecture anyone on what they drive. And when they start spouting misinformation on Tesla's, I just smile and don't even try to correct them anymore. I just say something like "There must be some reason it's the best selling car in California" and just smile again when they say how stupid people are. I would say the funniest was when my younger brother said he wouldn't get caught in a Tesla because of Elon's association with a certain president, and he got awful quiet when I showed him a picture of the Toyota chairman wearing a certain shirt and hat. The irony is he owns two Toyotas
Ouch, that one had to sting Toyoda went full *redacted*. I get why people might not like a certain car but at least LOOK at it. For this family member FSD would instantly become a must have item. Oh well.

uh oh, I just found out this family member bought the Lexus RX450H+ which is a plug-in hybrid. Problem is in this climate the battery doesn't do anything below certain temperatures, which are common where she lives (colder than where I am). https://www.clublexus.com/forums/nx-...mperature.html
Model Y would have driven them to work and back every day, takes so much strain off the mind. They are not going to be pleased to find out much of the time in winter the plug-in aspect of the RX won't work at all that's why they bought it.

I have zero interest in a car that drives me to work, not everybody is interested in that. I just drove home this afternoon 5 hours from WV and at no time did I wish my car was driving itself.
The plug in aspect of the RX will work when its cold it will just have greatly diminished range. Tesla would have had diminished range too

This isn't about you.

Try getting some basic info, the RX+ plug-in aspect doesn't function at all below a certain temperature which will be common for this person.
Actually I find most Teslas totally boring and lame lol
Different strokes for different folks.
RX450h+ all day long over a Model Y IMO. Sounds like a smart family member
Of course you find a dumb car more interesting, doesn't surprise me. Smooth as glass, instant torque on demand, always up to date, sports car performance when you need it, as well as the ability to drive itself when needed, not your style. I get it
And it isn't about you. My point is you assume your family member wants a car to drive them to work and back and they very well may not care about that. They bought the car they wanted, which is what we all do,

This is actually not entirely accurate. Toyota PHEVs won't start up and run in EV only mode if the temp is below 14 degrees F. However, the battery still aids in fuel usage when the car is operating in hybrid mode, and if the car is garaged and startup occurs when the ambient temp is above 14 degrees then it will run in EV only mode, just for much fewer miles.
