Quote: I saw an X the other day that had a tag that said, "No Gas". Unfortunately, it looked to have no electricity either because it was sitting on the side of the road halfway in a ditch. Also, unfortunately, you can't walk to the nearest electricity station, buy an electricity can, fill it up, and walk back.
Well, you can always get towed to a charger. I never let my cars get below 30 percent unless I'm traveling and maps says I'll reach the next chargers. The lowest I've reached a charger is 14 percent.

If they continued to drive with SoC that low, the idiots deserved it

More and more EVs are capable of car to grid or car to car charging.

Well I can safely say that should we ever experience an issue with the grid, I have two Tesla Powerwall batteries that are capable of storing energy from the sun and delivering this power to either my house, cars, or both

Ive gotten down to 1% a couple times luckily made it home. A friend of mine had a Plaid and he told me he’s gone to zero before and still went 10-20 miles so who knows. I don’t want to go that low but was on a trip and going 20 minutes out of my way to charge wasn’t something I wanted to do so I took the chance.

I would 100 percent not take any of my cars to zero, you can risk damaging the LV battery. When my son in laws Tesla was stolen and driven until the battery pack was depleted, that's exactly what happened

Didn’t know that, good to know.

May have encountered a malfunctioning charger was tried to make it to the next one.

Tesla supercharger sites have multiple chargers, plus you would get a message on the screen showing which chargers are not working. And we don't know if this was even a low battery. Could have been something else

The whole "what happens if you run out of charge" thing to me is pretty silly. Somehow I have driven cars for nearly 30 years and never run out of gas...I don't think I would be at risk for running out of charge either.

I've never run out of gas either that I remember, but I've definitely gotten busy and looked down at the needle and said "oh crap, I better find a gas station." Plenty of times. Because with ICE, you don't even really need to think about it. A fix is on just about every corner. You better not forget with an EV, because in many places, a fix is far away.

Unless you're driving 300 miles in a day every morning I would start with a full charge (well, 80% charge) because I would just plug it in every night.

becoming less and less true. At least in my area, gas stations have become great lots for new housing development. On interstates, you can go 40 miles without a gas station sometimes.
