I was surprised they didn't use her voice in the new Picard series, although they did in the scenes when they were on the Enterprise D. I would be surprised if the Roddenberry family wouldn't license its use via AI for something like that.
Well, getting ready to leave tomorrow morning for my trip to SoCal. It's going to be rain as storms are coming in, let's see how FSD handles bad weather
This was an interesting trip. A combination of bad weather, gusty winds and a crash that closed a major section of the 5 freeway turned a normally 7 hour drive into an almost 12 hour drive. Compounding that with Tesla's LTE connection going down, taking live map data offline didn't help. But thankfully, FSD saved the day, turning a nightmarish drive into a bearable one.
FSD performed admirably. It handled all types of roads and conditions, made zero mistakes in over 400 miles. There was only a couple of instances where wind gusts reached over 25 mph and it turned over control. Otherwise it safely made lane changes, dodged objects in the road including tumble weeds. All at speeds above 80 mph. And when rerouted through the high desert, it handled the dark curved roads easily, and got me to my destination safely. Here are some of the roads and conditions FSD handled with ease, never once asking me to grab the steering wheel:
FSD is simply amazing. I'm not going on any trip I have to drive without it
FSD had an issue with wind? I've never had that in 40+ mph gusts, just heavy rain. That was V13, though.
It only happened a few times, and it was usually accompanied by lots of cars being around me, and the LTE was cutting in and out. I just re enabled it and it was fine. According to Grok (who was my companion yesterday) FSD is tested up to 25 mph winds, and least that's what she told me
I finally signed up for an xAI account because it will limit you in using Grok to a number of times without an account. Now I can chat Grok up all the time, get weather, road and other information on long drives
Looks to be the Gilroy mountain pass to i-5. might be beautiful scenery, but a terrible stretch of 1 lane road where you can be stuck for hours.
Yep, the first two pics. That's not where I got stuck for 2 and half hours. It was right before the Grapevine, Tejan Ranch where I charged, but the road just stopped, couldn't move. It was a one way road in with no outlet, cars just sat there from 2pm until 4:30 pm, literally just sitting there. Have no idea why, all the other roads cars were moving, slowly but at least moving
Last night I drove to a friend's house about 40 miles away in the South Bay, and hit a downpour that brought most cars to 50 mph due to visibility being limited. Well, Elon saw the road clearly and FSD did an amazing job navigating the freeway, keeping a steady 70 mph and clearly seeing the road, not even going off course even a little.
Coming home at 1 am, FSD avoided all the crazy *** SoCal drivers, getting me home quickly and safely 👍. There's no other cars I want to trip. Comfortable, smooth and quiet, tons of instant torque and power, efficiency, and now add FSD 🙂
