What's wrong with what you are showing me? Looks cleaner than a gas station. You just back in, plug in, then sit in your car. If it's cold, turn the heat on. Hot, the AC. If raining, plug in quickly 🤣

No shade/cover. One is at a Buc’ees. Pretty clean place.

I've used many chargers that don't have covers, it's really not a big deal. Not every Tesla charging station in California has coverers

There isn’t anywhere to go. I would like to be able to go into a store and use the bathroom and get a drink and a snack. Even better to eat something there while the car charges for 25 min, I prefer not to eat in the car anyways so that’s a great combo with charging to me.

The cover rain is the issue. Gas stations are covered, I’d rather the chargers be covered but the lack of somewhere to go is the bigger thing to me.

Charging infrastructure in travel areas in California have restaurants, bathroom facilities etc all within a few feet, if Tesla doesn't already have them. Those in parking lots are usually in malls where all these facilities are available

Got it. It will eventually get built out. There must be a reason like not enough Tesla's in particular areas to justify the investment

People are so against/closed minded to EVs in the south. Give you example, coworker wants to lease a cheap car for couple years he can use while out of town for work. He mentioned a cheap Kia gas car. I told him about all the cheap EV leases (some Kia EV) and even showed him the prices and he wanted nothing to do with an EV. Someone mentioned where is he going to charge it and I told him there’s a Tesla charging station literally outside the hotel where he stays in the next parking lot. With majority having that mindset, EVs and charging stations will be few far and between.

Another thing to add, Texas/Louisiana are known for oil/gas industry. I know lots of people who work in that field.

Minds will change over time. There were people who told me they would never buy a smartphone, and now are on their hundredth smartphone. When hybrids came out only Californians and New Yorkers wanted them, now they are all over the south. Just takes time. Look, go back a few years and I would have never believed Bit would ever buy an EV. Now he has three, minus his LC. Who would of thought 🙂

Norway and the people are wealthy because of oil, new car purchases are nearly 100% EV.

I'm a fan of charger covers but I've also charged during a snow storm and the 30 seconds I was in the snow didn't permanently scar me

When dumb phones became so scarce compared to smartphones and “FREE” smartphones, people eventually gravitated to smartphones. Then you have those who cut their home ISP so they solely rely on their smartphones to access the internet. I know someone like this.

Because gas is $6/gallon there lol. It’s little over $2/gallon here.

I can’t think of anyone in my family or my in laws who even own a hybrid yet alone an EV. The adaption to EVs in some places like Texas/ Louisiana is at a very slow pace (IMO) especially when the oil/gas industry feeds your family.

Guy lives down the road from me has a welding machine on bed of his truck. I believe he used to work offshore but now he fires that dually up every morning before the sun breaks to go make a living. No EV to be found in midst of other vehicles parked at his house. Another guy lives in other direction works for an energy company as he drives his company supplied F150 home.
