I hope you're right about Seeking Alpha. I would hate for this brand to die out

Seeking Alfalfa is truly horrible.

Polestar sold 54,600 cars in 2023 is that good, bad? Financially Polestar is at about break even hardly a catastrophe. If you like a train wreck see Lucid their stock hit another all time low earlier today. LCID is trading at 20x lower than it's all time high. Wouldn't be surprised if the stock went up 30% from here so if you feel lucky punk then go for it.

Their original estimates was 80k units, but that probably included Polestar 3, which was delayed a year

I'm aware of the background, I just think Volvo selling the same EVs as Polestar dramtically diminishes their selling proposition

I agree, Volvo should be building completely different vehicles. That's what their stated goals were, Polestar is supposed to be an independent company, but they still seem to share not only the same designs, but the same factories. It's most likely due to financial considerations.

In fact, my lease for awhile was through Volvo Financial and just recently changed to Polestar Financial

They are owned by Geely, they will get whatever they need.

Chinese and JDM manufacturers love having many brands. Right now there are at least 6 brands producing cars on same platforms as Polestar - Volvo, Lynx's & Co, Zeekr, Lotus, Geely and more!

Why the depreciation of electric vehicles is higher than ICE vehicles? For example these two similar performance American vehicles.

2015 Dodge Charger Hellcat
0-60 3,5 sec, 1/4mi 11.7 sec
MSRP $63,290, KBB private value today $30,148,
Depreciation $33,142 or $3,682/ year

2015 Tesla Model S P85D
0-60 3.2 sec, 1/4mi 11.7 sec
MSRP $136,720, KBB private value today $22,688
Depreciation $114,032 or $12,670/ year

Pretty simple... Tesla price cuts. Or should I say, price slashing . People in the Polestar forum were literally cursing Tesla, especially those that just bought or got into leases as they saw their vehicle values plummet

You can’t compare an appliance car (Model S) vs. a special muscle car like a Hellcat that has higher demand especially since they are killing them off. I wonder how the comparison of something like a MB S class or BMW 7 series would be compared to the Model S? I’m sure resale would be higher but I wonder if the difference would be much lower.

Polestar's unique selling proposition revolves around their commitment to combining performance with sustainability in the electric vehicle market.

They aim to deliver high-performance electric cars while prioritizing eco-friendly materials and production processes. Polestar vehicles often feature advanced technology, minimalist design, and a focus on a more sustainable driving experience.

it’s not just price cuts, the P85D was quickly superseded by the P90D, P100D and Plaid, and now a Model 3 Performance will match it. The P85D was quickly rendered obsolete by Model S upgrades and lower priced Teslas. The P85D also qualified for a federal tax credit so there was a 7500 adjustment to factor in.

That's why I posted that I should have looked at his list before commenting
