Popular Kumho models for Teslas include:
  • Kumho Majesty 9 Solus TA91 / TA91 EV: Frequently equipped as standard factory tires on Fremont-built Tesla Model Ys. They are highly regarded for their low cabin noise and comfort, but some drivers experience quicker tread wear and lower puncture resistance than all-weather options like Michelin CrossClimate 2.
  • Kumho Ecsta Sport / Sport S: EV-compatible performance tires favored by drivers who want an aggressive aesthetic and excellent wet grip without paying premium Michelin or Pirelli prices. They provide an affordable daily ride but feature softer sidewalls that can feel mushy when taking aggressive corners.
  • Crugen EV HP71: An all-season touring option specifically designed for the added weight and low-noise requirements of electric SUVs
They are increasingly common maybe the owner changing them to Khumo's, but they are not installed by Tesla from the factory here, I see hundreds of Tesla's a day and majority have Continentals while the Performance Models use Pirelli Zero's. Maybe they are installing them on the base Model (non Premium), but haven't seen it yet

Yeah, great looking color, but more importantly it actually looked rich and premium quality.

Not sure, this is just what my neighbor complained about. He's had many Teslas over the years, currently has 2.

Anything is possible, but several people I know have taken delivery of new Model Y's and they all came with Continentals EXCEPT one with the Performance and he has Pirelli Zero's, which ain't cheap.

As far as your complaints about noisy bad ride, I've only experienced that from older Tesla's, my refreshed Model 3 rides extremely well, is quiet and has very compliant suspension and road noise suppression. Is it luxury? Nope. Premium, yes IMHO. But that's just my opinion, if you don't like the way they ride, I won't try to convince you otherwise

How were the S/X compared to 3/Y ride quality wise? They were much more expensive cars, I assume they had more sophisticated chassis and suspension?

A new one popped up in inventory about a week ago in my area. It was the base car, not a Plaid. Really like that color. Looks even better in person, but it's not something I would want to live with long term.

S and X used Air suspension, so a better ride, although the X let in much more road noise and felt heavy. The X was very gimmicky, I way prefer the Y over it.

Quality wise, the X had issues, my coworkers is always in the shop for something. Also Tesla seemed to not give as much attention to the S as it does the Model 3 and Y, probably due to low volume sales. Honestly, the Model 3 Performance is a better value than the S dollar per dollar, that's what I would buy if I was in the market for a performance EV. Again, just my take

Model S is luxury vehicle... Model 3 is nice bang for the buck premium vehicle.

My 2021 Model 3P has pretty good suspension, very sporty ride and not too harsh. Very noisy, even compared to my 2026 Model 3 RWD Standard (which is lacking basically all the noise deading extras that Highland has)
.
My 2023 Model S and 2021 Model 3P came with excellent Pirelli tires. 2026 Model 3 Standard came with very plasticky Bridgestones, which are very efficient and my wife likes how light it feels (i would have put something stickier right away).

I appreciate OCH that you are asking logical questions. I also value your opinion, even those I may disagree with. And you should have the same rights to criticize same as everyone else. If you lose those rights, than they can be taken away from me just as easily.

There is no rules saying you have to like Tesla, or any other car make or model, and I respect that. Also I will truthfully tell you that both my Tesla's are appliances, very good ones, but none the less appliances. They both serve me well, are efficient and cheap to own, are fast when I want them to be, can be fueled at home, but in no way are luxury cars. The EQS and BMW ix models fit that bill much better

It's Huawei. Go look at what Canda banned from Huawei. Wow. Everything.

Always more to the story than the Chinese propaganda you shamelessly push.

They could've at least made the screen ALR. Matte white screen + matte white interior with a few glossy elements here and there is almost the worst possible environment for a projector setup, and rollable tensioned ALRs absolutely do exist - pretty sure that it isn't too difficult to make one for a UST given the otherwise fixed setup. Heck, they could make it solid and retractable, or rollable sideways or idunnohowmanydifferentways.

Basically cheap "look at me im big" bs.

Interesting comments from Lars and Franz on the Ride the Lightning podcast. Said space to build Optimus was part of the reason for the S/X cancellation. But part of it was because they want their cars to be the safest on the road, and the cost to upgrade the aging platform to keep up with increasing regulations wasn't going to make it feasible. Didn't rule out a return in the future but didn't sound very positive. Also, the Roadster will be built in Texas. Don't think I had heard that before. Also, when asked what they would like to say to Model S customers, both said thanks but Lars made an awkward reference to the Wind Beneath my Wings song from probably the worst chick flick movie in history called Beaches. lol. That was pretty unexpected.

The EVs are banned because they are far ahead of what is coming out of Detroit in the EV space. No comparison!!! If this EV came to the US, it would force greater competition by US manufacturers to up their game in the EV space
