Great vehicle letdown by pretty meh styling. They don’t have the rabid fanbase as tesla so they gotta do better

just saw this on fb...

Just did our first extended road trip (1500 miles) with our Gravity Grand Touring which we've had for four months. We had done a number of 200 mile trips (never having to charge on the road), but this was the first one that involved charging stops. Had hoped to try a variety of charging setups such as Tesla, Rivian, Mercedes Benz and/or Ionna, but our on our route the Tesla ones were the most convenient for us based on when we needed to stop to charge and eat. We did do the Tesla membership for about $12 for one month which saved us a good bit of money over the non-Tesla rates and starting the session with the Tesla app worked fine at every charging stop. It's not as easy as plug and charge like we've done with our Teslas over the years, but only takes a few taps on the phone to get it started. We typically would reach 200 kw charging rates that would start to decrease a bit as the battery percentage got higher, but definitely much, much faster that any of our Teslas have ever charged. We comfortably went well over 200 miles between charges (could have gone much further) going at fairly fast rates of speed.

The car worked flawlessly except for one point about 10 miles before stopping I lost the blind spot camera views for some reason, but as soon as we stopped I rebooted the screens and all was fine. We brought our three dogs (one 70 lbs and two at 90 lbs), their large dog crates, dog beds, blankets, dog food and a bunch of others things for them plus our bodega travel fridge, lots of food items, our luggage, etc. and all fit with no problem. Never could have made that trip with all of them before.

The best part of the trip was how easy the driving was. Cruise control worked perfectly (no phantom braking as we have all the time in the Tesla), Carplay was great (kept Waze active on carplay while navigated on the Lucid nav on the bottom screen and still was alerted to police presence, obstacles in the road, etc.) and the ventilated and massaging seats made driving some much easier.

We had high expectations for the Gravity as a road trip vehicle when we got it and it definitely surpassed them.

Its a fabulous vehicle. I just can't spend that kind of money on something I hate to look at. Same issue I had with the i7. Its a superior car to what I chose but I gotta like looking at it.

i certainly like its looks better than any of the vehicles you've been considering. it's a packaging marvel too.
my only concern would be lack of sales/service places, software bugs and limitations (compared to tesla).

I don't like the way they look at all...awkward, minivan looking. Not my thing. Drives great and I like the space inside.

We're talking $1,500+ a month to drive a vehicle, has to be a vehicle I really like.

I think the CH-R looks great.

Up in NJ and my brother in law has a new Rivian R1T, loves it. My wife is going to drive it tomorrow.

If you switched the badges on cars, most women wouldn't be able to correctly tell which car was which. Many can't even get it right with the correct badges on. lol

It’s all political. You can thank Elon for the results of that poll.

Reminder that the R1T drives better than the S because it's longer and the suspension was really built for that and not the shortened S

Yeah I’ve driven the R1S. They weren’t all that different, they’ve tweaked the R1S a bunch I’ve heard.

She really liked it, like I knew she would.

If that is the case, I do thank him for that. If my Tesla works as that type of repellent, I consider it a bonus.
