i think the thing that probably has 'traditional' car companies terrified is that tesla can move and change so quickly. that and their obvious manufacturing and cost advantage.
When the Model Y refresh comes out, there's going to be new shifts happening. If it's anything as refined as the new Model 3, I'll probably get the Model Y Performance over the M3 Performance
My wife hated the ride on the loaner '21 Y compared to her 18 3 and was so happy to have it back. Updated suspension was too floaty for her
The Y suspension wasn't updated until 2023. Ours is not floaty at all. The new redesigned M3 is a vast improvement. I hope they bring whatever they did to it to the new Y when it's released.

I agree, my Y's suspension is on the stiffer side, not floaty at all. I would describe the Ioniq 5's suspension as a little floaty, but not in a bad way

i think that's more a sedan vs cuv thing plus the '18 3 was probably as rock hard as tesla delivered.
even the 2024 x i test drove was pretty firm and that's an air suspension.
She certainly has a unicorn of a 3. Aside from the roof crack and the issue with the body controller, it has been great for going on 5 years now. No rattles or other problems and the ride is nice and compliant. She's not going to replace it with another 3 because she likes having stalks and wants to try something different. We've got the R2 on order, but depending on when the R3 is expected to enter production that may end up being a lease instead of purchase

Many say MY is smooth like butter () and such but to me... nah. Firm or not is very subjective. Even with air suspension, all tesla suspension are too firm for my taste. No where near comfort. Some say new 3 is better but I doubt they would make it more comfortable than x and s.
