I just want to let everyone know that the moment my FTX tokens go up, I'm buying another Tesla. Fingers crossed, I have full faith SBF will come through
Rain plays a huge factor and will hurt your efficiency. Topography is important too. If that particular stretch was all uphill, that will also bring range down. What was starting elevation and ending elevation? What were the temperatures? Too hot will hurt your range, too cold will hurt your range. There are soooo many factors with range and EVs...
There are a few hills but you gain that regen going down the hill as well. I was on the same drive myself and I didn’t have neither AC or Heat going. It was in 60-70s degrees.
Did it tell him to stop because he was going to run out of juice or did it tell him to stop because it wants him to arrive at his location with some extra charge?
I asked him that and he said had he not stopped his SOC would’ve been -16%
Well something isn’t working as it should, because I’d fully expect to do a trip like that in my Lightning with no stops, assuming 100% SOC at the outset.

He suspects it’s the 20 inch wheels. Again his mph was 70-80mph and it rained maybe for a few miles give or take. Sounds discouraging to say the least.

It’s not wheels. They have an impact, but not to that extent. My truck for example runs on 22” wheels and the difference in advertised range between my truck on 22” wheels and the ones that come with 20” wheels is 20 miles (300 on mine vs 320 on 20” wheels).

interesting. do you have the standard or extended range (ER) battery?
i just read "standard is 98 kWh and 131 kWh in the Extended Range Battery. We assume that the total capacity might be 110 kWh and 145 kWh (our guess), respectively."
what's your home charging setup and how long does it take to charge?

I have the extended range, so 131 kWh accessible. I have an 80 amp charger, it was included with the truck, but mostly I’m just charging for daily driving from say 60% or so to say 85% and for that I usually use my variable rate charger and just let it run at around 30 amp or so. I’ve also got reliable DCFC near home, so all bases covered. The 80 amp will comfortably charge from zero to 100% overnight, but you won’t really see that specific scenario very often of course.
my ER has two onboard chargers, the SR has only one, and the ER can charge at a faster rate than the SR. 15 to 100% on the 98 kWh standard range would take about 10 hours on the Ford charge station pro. For my 131 kWh extended range, the same 15% to 100% would take only 8 hours. So a lot more energy onboarded in less time because of the twin chargers.
I had to run to a store this morning that was about 30 minutes away from home. The route included hilly highways, a few long and windy entrance and exit ramps, some quicker 2 lane side/country roads (45-55mph), and a little bit of city driving. I felt like I really got to enjoy the full breadth of capabilities the EQS has to offer. It just does everything well. I switched between Comfort mode and Sport mode as needed and it really is transformative. I'm amazed at how well the car changes and adapts to what's going on, how the character of the car changes in each mode, and how the car changes just depending on your driving style.
I've never had a car that was so relaxing and calming but effortless and confidence inspiring at low speeds, high speeds, going in a straight line, going on twisty roads, etc. This car is just so good at so many things. I'd say this has been my most fun car ownership experience to date. I really enjoy driving this car.

I want to make a quick correction, this is not my Brother in Law's truck, but the son of one of my Brother in Law's, which actually makes me his Uncle . To be more precise, it's driven by his wife, so I'm guessing I'm also considered her Uncle. Anyway, they ordered the R1T about 3 years ago, and took delivery of it this year, so they bought it before the price hike. Here are some details:
Quad Motor AWD
835 HP 908 ft-lbs torque
180 kWh battery pack
Let me start out this post by saying this thing is FREAKING AWESOME! The R1T has Air suspension, so it rides very compliant on both good and bad roads. Although it's a truck, it handles amazingly well. One issue though is it has high ground clearance, so the owner who is a 5' 2" female has a little trouble getting in and out. The truck will lower itself, but not enough. She told me that the newer gen coming out will have step rails (you can also go to the aftermarket).
Driving impressions: WOW! I didn't get to drive it very far, but I got to drive it on the winding roads of Los Altos Hills. EV owners already know about the instant torque, but I gotta mention it! And I can't believe how well this truck handles. And with 835 available horses, it's kick a s s!
Interior: It has plenty of room in the front and extended cab. Three adults...my brother in law, my wife, and myself sat in the back seats. I'm not exactly a small guy, and I fit in the middle perfectly. I did find them a little on the hard side, so on a longer trip I'm sure if that would be an issue.
Storage: It has plenty of storage, which includes a big frunk, a medium size truck bed, and a storage tunnel in between the cab and rear bed. You could fit all kinds of stuff in there, including a body.
I didn't get to really play around with the screen, but it looks pretty good, and it seems to work. The owner says she hasn't had any issues with it.
So with the limited time I spent with it, let me do a quick Pros & Cons:
Pros:
Impressively quick acceleration and sharp handling
Cleverly designed storage areas
Quiet, comfortable and spacious cabin
Distinctive styling makes it stand out on the road
Cons:
Driver aids are in need of refinement
Ride quality can get a bit choppy at times
Car doesn't lower itself enough for shorter people

According to him, he hasn’t gotten close to the advertised range. It doesn’t seem plausible.
On that same highway drive, I was towing a car on a trailer and was able to make the drive without stopping for fuel while actually traveling a little farther. This was using the gas guzzling Toyota’s 5.7 V8.
Bayeax - maybe check the tire pressure? He's either pulsing his speed a lot or his tire pressure is low for the range to be that bad. My 3P with aftermarket wheels that made my range worse could handle that distance without issue.
